2016 Malibu Hybrid near Memphis Doesn’t Skimp on the Styling

Upcoming Chevy hybrid offering is fuel-efficient and still keeps the Chevrolet Malibu charm

For the 2016 model year, Chevrolet decided to take their iconic Malibu in a new direction. Seeing the need in the segment for a quality hybrid midsize sedan, they developed the ’16 Malibu Hybrid. Slated to go into production this spring, this new offering from Chevrolet is quite the eye-opener.

We could talk about fuel efficiency, and it definitely shouldn’t be ignored. The EPA estimates the Malibu Hybrid to get up to 48 mpg city and 45 mpg highway. This is thanks in part to the hybrid propulsion system found in the 2016 Malibu Hybrid. The gas engine and batteries work in harmony to help increase fuel economy while helping out the environment.

However, just because it’s a hybrid doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the Chevrolet style and technology. While getting the most out of every gallon, you can get the most out of the Malibu’s features as well.

The 2016 Malibu Hybrid has style with a purpose. The smooth and aerodynamic exterior helps further the hybrid’s mission to save on fuel. The mode switches are smooth according to an AutoBlog review, and the blended braking system worked beautifully.

Since it is a Malibu at heart, you can rest easy knowing that the available technology is the latest and greatest. New for 2016 is Apple CarPlay (Android Auto coming soon) which allows you to integrate smartphone apps with the Malibu. And, of course, the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi helps make your Malibu Hybrid a mobile hot spot. You can connect up to seven devices to the Internet at once with this feature.

Though it is a hybrid, you don’t have to sacrifice style and technology with the 2016 Malibu Hybrid. Be on the lookout at our blog, social media and inventory for updates on the 2016 Malibu Hybrid near Memphis. 6 Cool Facts About the 2017 Chevy Bolt, an All-electric Vehicle

Upcoming long-range EV vehicle shows promise for Memphis electric car fans

In the span of less than one calendar year, Chevrolet presented the all-electric Bolt concept and created a production model for the 2017 model year. Chevrolet leaped ahead of many of its competitors by offering an all-electric hatchback (or CUV — more on this later) to the average consumer.

The Bolt helps make electric cars more affordable and available overall. Chevrolet has announced the Bolt is eligible for sale in 48 states including Tennessee and Chuck Hutton Chevrolet in Memphis. Other fantastic facts help propel the Bolt toward its late of 2016 release date.

1. Lighter weight helps it go farther

Lighter aluminum was used for the door, liftgate, hood and front suspension control arms, according to Car and Driver, and high-strength steel was used for the unibody. All in all, it total 3,580 pounds which helps keep the Bolt lighter and, in turn, increase the driving range of the Chevy electric car.

2. Awesomely aerodynamic

The Bolt EV will soar (will, it can’t actually fly) but you’ll cruise down the street with no problem. The underbody is flat because batteries do not need air for combustion, and this flat underbody results in a more streamlined airflow.

3. Room on room on room

It’s no secret that Tesla is working on a vehicle similar to the Bolt, but the Bolt already has as much passenger room (94 cubic feet) as the five-passenger Tesla Model S. The backseat is placed above the battery pack, but fear not! The seats are still comfortable.

4. Fast fill-up

Obviously, you’ll be spending time at a charging area as opposed to a gas station. With a DC fast-charge source, within 30 minutes you’ll have 90 miles of driving range. 240-volt AC power will take two hours to restore 50 miles. The same available 240-volt charger can replenish an entire battery in about 9 hours according to Chevy. Have a long day of driving? Plug it in before bed!

5. Protection down below

Protecting against puncture wounds was on the minds of Chevrolet designers. Crossmembers and the bottom cover are all made of steel, and the cold plate and battery cell containers further add more protection to the 2017 Chevy Bolt.

6. CUV styling and capabilities coming soon?

The chief engineer of Chevrolet electrical vehicles, Pam Fletcher, actually wants people to think of the Chevy Bolt as a crossover utility vehicle as opposed to a hatchback. Why would that be? Perhaps all-wheel drive may be coming to the Bolt sometime after its late 2016 release date.

No One Expects the Chevy Malibu: ’16 Malibu Challenges Consumers’ Perceptions

If you were looking for a new midsize sedan near Memphis and saw quality materials, tried out the new technology and sat in the roomy cabin, what brand would you expect — Lexus, BMW, Acura? Chevrolet set out to challenge new car buyers’ perceptions as to what an American sedan can offer for a lower price with the 2016 Malibu.

The “Real People, Not Actors” campaign has been putting real people in focus groups and demos of Chevrolet vehicles and their features. Most of the time, the reviewers don’t know that Chevrolet offers the most and newest technology and highest-quality builds. Next up for Chevrolet was the redesigned and reinvigorated 2016 Malibu such as the ones we have at Chuck Hutton Chevrolet.

In the new “Underbranded” commercial, consumers evaluate the 2016 Chevy Malibu with all the nameplates and badges removed. Already a finalist for the 2016 North American Car of the Year, the people’s true reactions to the Malibu are — at first glance — that the vehicle is an Acura or BMW.

Once inside, the reviewers feel the materials and try out new technology such as the Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Eyebrows are raised once the optional Teen Driver and Front Automatic Braking are divulged. The real people estimated the sedan’s price range between $50,000 and $80,000 dollars.

The consumers are surprised once they hear it’s a Chevy Malibu and that prices start at less than $24,000 for entry trims. For 2016, the Malibu was made longer, lighter and even more fuel efficient. The interior has more leg room for a better Chevrolet experience than previous models, and the upcoming Malibu Hybrid has a GM-estimated 48 mpg city.

The next time you see a sophisticated, lively midsize sedan, maybe you should be expecting a Chevy Malibu. At Chuck Hutton Chevrolet, we have new 2016 Malibus to test drive near Memphis for yourself.
