Four years ago during the SEMA show, the truck-loving public got their first real-life look at the Carhartt Silverado 2500 HD Concept. Everyone loved it so much that we were immediately fielding questions about its exact arrival date right here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis. It is a long-awaited debut stemming from the fitting collaboration edition with the uniform of hard work “available in a truck with bowtie included.” Carhartt has been creating their unique brand of durable gear since 1889, offering its customer base a proud and comfortable line of work (and play) duds.
This special edition begins with the 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LTZ Crew Cab and the optional Z71 Off-Road package. It is then finished with the Mosaic Black Metallic with Carhartt pinstripe dealing and boasts the Carhartt badge on the doors and tailgate, 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and a soft roll-up tonneau cover brandishing the Carhartt logo. Chrome inserts, a body-colored grille bar, and body-colored front and rear bumpers then round out the unique look. Inside, all-weather floor liners protect the truck from inevitable mud and moisture brought in on boots, and a cool two-tone Jet Black and Carhartt Brown perforated front and rear leather seating surfaces.
Both Carhartt and Chevrolet have earned a reputation for creating products that stand the test of time, and this is the perfect example of two brands joining forces to create an excellent model rich with purpose that anyone giving 110% on the job site will appreciate. As you get to edge away from the grind and enjoy exploring challenging territory while enjoying ample doses of “get up and go”, the twin-tubed Rancho shocks, Hill Descent Control, and skid plates will certainly be up to the task.
These two companies both know all about the rewards of hard work, share their home state of Michigan, and are nearly the same age, rendering this an ideal release that celebrates the grunt and grit of handwork done right. With excellent powertrain choices, bold and authentic exterior styling, and new tech available to ease trailering duty, the Silverado is already a truck-lovers holiday dream come true. The bed configurations offer plenty of space, and appropriate hardware to get tough jobs completed on the double. You'll also enjoy the user-friendly and practical infotainment system on board as well as the additional camera view modes to assist with parking and trailering.
The V8s offer up a superior power source and are the best most capable and truck-ready pair of engines in the segment. The 5.3-liter V8 produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, making for a 6.4-second zero to sixty time. The 6.2-liter V8 is good for 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, crushing the zero-to-sixty stint in 6.0 seconds. Other excellent brand-new features to help with the long haul task of safe towing are a useful jack-knife alert function, forward and reverse trailer side-view monitoring and lane-change trailer length indicator.
