Chevy to Debut Plug-in Hybrid Truck Concept During Virtual Consumer Electronics Show January 12th

The Digital Consumer Electronics Show will take place this month using an all-digital presence this year, as it connects customers, exhibitors, and automotive media worldwide. For more than 50 years, CES has fulfilled a pivotal role in providing a very engaging platform to bring together influential members of the tech community and plans to return to a more traditional event next time around in 2022. GM plans to announce a few new concept vehicles during this exciting weekend next week, and one of them is officially slated to be a plug-in-hybrid pickup.

The word came from Bloomberg Green the week before that GM CEO Mary Barra would take place in an official presentation showing just how awesome this concept will be, following in  the footsteps of our promise to offer 30 electric vehicles in the lineup within four years. A live stream presentation will include her thoughts on overall electrification strategy and the importance of Eco-conscious sustainable manufacturing, with a brief showing afterward of a few of the incoming goodies we can expect in the future right here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis.

It is thought that the Chevy pickup concept that will be previewed will not be fully electric but rather a plug-in-hybrid, utilizing the innovative and powerful Ultium Battery System. Sketches shown to Car and Driver earlier in the year are expected to be of a Silverado, but may still be ushered in under a different namesake. Any electric pickups willing to step up to the plate of upcoming offerings will do battle against the heavy hitters in the form of the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford F-150 Electric, and Rivian R1T, as well as what Ram has in the works.

While everyone is waiting for the dust to settle and the factories to work their magic on these exciting projects coming soon, the current 2021 Chevy Silverado boasts terrific towing capability and chart-busting reliability ratings. Powerful available engines and the new addition of the MultiFlex tailgate are generating a healthy amount of post-holiday interest here during test drives, as the recent craze over trucks is for plenty of good reason. The 420-horsepower V8 provides a raw version of authoritative power that is paired with a comfortable ride and four-wheel-drive.

A blog on Insideevs.com claimed that the upcoming Chevy electric truck will feature a 200-kWh battery pack and targeted range of over 400 miles, and during the Barclays 2020 Global Automotive Conference, this rendering was referred to a few times that was created by TopElectricSUV. We realize that the traditional ideas and means of truck use very recently don't always conjure up images of glossy electric plug-ins, but as all brands have laid out their lofty aspirations, we are sure to lead the pack with innovative and demanding jobsite-crushing design!
