If you follow the auto industry, you know that rumors are always going around about future vehicles. And this may be one of those instances but we’re not positive... Entering its last year of production, it’s been said that the 2017 Chevrolet SS may be getting a bit of an engine boost...and if you’re familiar with the Camaro, you’re familiar with said engine.
According to a source that spoke to GM Authority, there have been “mumblings” going on around the Elizabeth assembly, AKA the home of production for both the Chevrolet SS and Holden Commodore. The Holden Commodore, which is also entering its last year of production, has been confirmed to be receiving a new engine so we’re thinking these “mumblings” may have some truth behind them.
Wondering what engine the boost will be from? The same engine that powered the Chevrolet Camaro from 2012 to 2015- the supercharged 6.2 LSA V8. This will add about 121 ponies, leading to a total of 538 hp for the SS.
We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear anything else. In the meantime, be sure to stop by Chuck Hutton Chevrolet to test drive the current 2016 Chevrolet SS!
