This year's Corvette 2LT and 3LT trim levels have been closely examined on the many blogs and internet news sources that have a love for all things car-related, and for very good reason! This amazing mid-engined model that has seen so many years in the making has been reviewed as completely iconic, game-changing, and has been billed as having the best interior of any Corvette that ever existed. Adrian Padeanu of Motor1.com took a close-up look this past week at what the base 1LT offers and put this video on the blog laying out all of the details.

Even without the head-up display, wireless charging pad, front-facing camera, and heated steering wheel, many who have taken the plunge and took this breathtaking machine for a spin have thought it appears a bit cleaner this way. On the shown model there is no Z51 trim, no magnetic ride, and the still very striking number makes its appearance in placidly stark orange exterior paint. The host first describes in detail how there is 490 horsepower generated from the 6.2-liter V8 engine. The transmission does also come with paddles, and it is stressed here that it in all ways is “exceptionally quick!”

The tires flaunt 19-inch rims in the front and 20-inch in the back, and the base-level trim does come with a removable top that easily clicks in place. You do also score GT1 seats on the entry-level 'Vette, which the review team agrees are absolutely “more than just OK.” They do a good job of showing the viewer here how everything on the interior facing the driver almost feels like an awesome fighter jet, and the steering wheel is calibrated just as one for racing would be. 

The driving modes available are touring, sport, and track, and track is where this crew claims the most fun is had. It's where the steering and braking really stiffens up, and you get to open up and embrace every bump and corner in the road. The Motor1.com expert on duty also claims that the Bose 10-speaker audio system on board is one of the best he's ever heard and that he was able to get it sounding “absolutely perfect.”

This base-level does not come with a rear-view camera, and even though that is more of a family-friendly safety feature we recognize it adds a feeling of safety and security. Automobile Mag Test Drives 2020 C8 Corvette and Claims it “Glides Over Broken Roads Like a Hovercraft”

All of us here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis enjoyed a very intense level of excitement over the past year when we were awaiting the debut of the Chevy C8 mid-engined Corvette. The current model was such a fantastic machine that had seen so many exhilarating runs off and on the track, but it had reached a leveling-out point where performance was concerned. Nielson Ireson of Automobile Mag had previously encountered a few reviews about this wonder of engineering that surprised him. A few of his cohorts in the industry had been in his opinion quite off base when they did not fully approve of the steering and overall grip.

Spending the better part of an entire week with the new work of wonder, he concluded that they absolutely must have just had quite enough time to spend with it. He spent his precious time with the C8 both on the road and on the corners of the Willow Springs racetrack. They chose to spend the entire week in track-alignment mode, whether they were nailing down high-speed laps or careening in the mountains near Lake Hughes, California.

Surprisingly enough, the designers responsible for this car said if you are going to use the track setting to just go ahead and keep it that way for the duration, and it will NOT cause any premature wear on the tires. The crew's first response after a quick initial drive was “Holy cow, is this thing good!”. The nearly instant torque derived from the 6.2-liter V8 means that you are not left without thrust in the least, and the steering was the most communicative they had laid hands on in quite some time.

Like many others out there in the sea of car critics, Neilson concluded after just a few back-to-back runs in hardware just as exotic as what one would find in the Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren GT, the mid-engine Corvette is, by all means, something wildly special, especially at its current cost. Social media editor Billy Rehbock only had one complaint, and that was that the C8 was actually a bit quiet when it was really being pushed to the limit. He then added that he was sure that coming performance versions will probably remedy that issue down to the last detail.

This blog continues on to say that for Chevy to have done such an impressive job in its first go with the engine behind the driver and to have included so many improvements to the quality and luxury for a fraction of the price of the competing super-crowd is nothing short of startling. Contributing writer Arthur St. Antoine wrote in his notes that the new C8 “glides over broken mountain roads like a hovercraft, but still sticks like crazy”, and he also thought that it was overall more compliant than the scorching competition in the form of the Porsche 992. Writer Hannah Elliot has covered the scoop regarding all things horsepower-and-torque related for quite some time, and her insights and recommendations are among the best in the entire industry. When beginning an in-depth review of the new 2020 Corvette Stingray last week, she claimed that the Corvette has “proven the worth of down-home American car design by dominating drag strips and track days since 1953”. She then reflects that the new 2020 'Vette with its improved interior and mid-engine placement is a true astonishment regarding the incredibly low-price tag!

She purposefully executed a few turns that were on the sloppy side and claimed to still stick to the asphalt “like a gymnast nailing her routine”. After driving the previous C7 model, she stated the new mid-engine setup is a wildly drastic improvement, and the four selectable driving modes give you ultimate control over steering, chassis, acceleration, and braking.

For the purists out there, even though there is not a stick-shift offered, you can enjoy manual mode with paddle shifting, although it is good to note that the new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic is faster than any human can shift manually. With a zero to 60 mph sprint of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph, the new Corvette absolutely can match speeds once reserved for Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and even Bugatti. Autoweek Provides 0-60 MPH Data Confirming New C8 Corvette's Elite Speed Status

When all of the years of waiting finally reached an ending point and the mid-engined Corvette became a reality, one thing was evident: the finale result was a car that had the bragging rights of an otherworldly acceleration factor. As Graham Kozak from Autoweek declared last week on the blog, it is always nice to have official figures to back speed time boastings up with raw data. When the count makes it's way officially in, the base model Corvette coupe does 0-60 MPH in a shaved-even 3.0 seconds.

If equipped with the Z51 Performance Package, it has said to shave another valuable tenth of a second off the time, and with perfectly ideal track conditions could maybe even accomplish better than that. One other very well-stated sentiment regarding performance here is that the basic 2020 Corvette with the Z51 package reaches the 60 mph mark just as fast as the C7 ZR1, and this is only the beginning of the new model's determined and performance-focused development. What the Z51 Package initially brings to the table is Magnetic Ride Control magnetorheological suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and bigger brakes as well as Michellin Pilo Sport 4S tires.

Even with the massive improvements to the LT2, this still behaves like a GM V-8, which is a noteworthy component that keeps the new Stingray at a base price on the low end. We never get tired of the “performance roar” factor that rang in after the brand-new C8 came out on the scene, and the many new converts it has claimed within its accomplished engineering feat! 

Road Show Blog Covers 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray Convertible's Fall Arrival

When the most awesome and spellbinding combination of raw power and dazzling appearances makes its way proudly into the current landscape of automobiles, a convertible version is going to no doubt be heavily sought after. During the end of July, there were a few teasers on Facebook regarding a C8 convertible's arrival, and at the time, it was said that the story would continue this fall. Assembly plant manager Kai Spande mentioned recently in a video taken during the National Corvette Museum's annual bash event that the convertible is set to arrive “in the October time frame”.

The presentation centered around the construction of the mid-engined Corvette prototypes, and had an involved question and answer session. This is the point where the convertible is mentioned, although various specifics are not lain out. This video captured the Stingray convertible with camo covering up what appears to be a folding hardtop roof and other design elements at the rear of the car above the engine bay. Still images taken from the video show the absence of the engine cover to show various new bodywork elements and vents, but the car looks pretty much the same.

The drop-top Stingray will most likely brandish an identical 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that makes 490 horsepower, the same as the C8 Corvette coupe. There will still probably be the optional Z51 package available as well, which boosts the horsepower up by 5 and adds Michelin PS4 performance tires, performance suspension, adjustable threaded spring seats, and larger brake rotors with Z51 graphics. You'll also receive enhanced cooling systems, and electronic limited-slip differential with a specific axle ratio, front brake cooling inlets, and a unique rear spoiler and front splitter.

The taillights and exhaust layout are the same as on the coupe, and a recently leaked document indicates that the C8 convertible weighs 102 pounds more than a coupe minus the Z51 package. If the C8 convertible coupe does debut in October as indicated, then all of us here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis would expect to see the convertible version roll onto lots for sale during early 2020. Having it available by spring would be ideal timing to have the first round of buyers be able to enjoy the thrill of the wind on their face at high speeds, which the C8 is no stranger to: the 3-second mark has been the hovering point for the 0-60 mph ignition time. Other videos are floating around that show it executing a blisteringly-surreal 194 mph top speed, which means that this bargain-priced track contender can hang haughtily with the meanest and most finely-chiseled on the globe!

Just two years ago, the C7.R was developed, and made its debut on the track during the 2015 Rolex Motorsports Reunion. Everyone that works here in sales and service is always apt to get excited when the best of a car line is scheduled to make an appearance just where it deserves: at a world-class racing event. The Corvette Grand Sport is slated to be the official pace car for the 2017 Indianapolis 500, and will lead the way to the green flag on May 28, for the 101st running of this important event. This is the 14th time that a 'Vette has been selected to serve as the signature pace car; the first time was just two years after the bicentennial year of 1976. The Best Look Yet At The 2018 Corvette ZR-1

The arrival of the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is getting closer and closer and new spy photos have us more excited than ever. Typically sporting plenty of camouflage, the now barely-covered road car has us thinking this could be the brand’s best yet.

Up until now, fake panels and coverings made it difficult for us to grasp the true silhouette of the highly-anticipated ZR-1. However, we’re now able to see a bulging hood and revamped front end, complete with three large intakes and a massive splitter. The rear features a huge wing and spoiler.

Anybody else thinking what we’re thinking? Considering the larger hood, it is likely that the supercharger of the ZR-1 will be larger than the 1.7-liter version of the current Z06. It is also likely that this beast will bust out more than 700 horsepower. We’ll have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show next month to find out for sure.

Calling All Corvette Enthusiasts! A Mid-Engine Corvette Is Becoming a Reality

A string of spy photos is making its way around and we have a feeling our Memphis‘Vette fanatics are going to be happy about this news.
