They had spied a more rugged-looking Silverado ZR2 test prototype on the road last month, which featured a different front bumper design, more hidden wheels, and capable side rock rails. 

The Bison’s initial stance will be mechanically like the standard ZR2 model, but with the Montana-sourced experts of AEV adding their well-spun magic in the departments of underbody protection, custom bumpers and off-road ready wheels. This year's model boasts a deep work-over, aggressive new looks, and a slew of improvements in the technology and chassis departments, including a thorough reworking of the independent rear suspension.

2021 Chevy Blazer Shows up With Camaro-Inspired Traits to The Family Crossover Category

2021 Chevy Tahoe High Country's Felt Presence Is “Big, Broad, and Powerful”

Even as a movement for incredibly efficient and tiny-sized cars has gained steam within some circles, everyone here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis still appreciates the big-and-bad stature of a large vehicle that can appropriately command the road! The Tahoe is now new for 2021, and it boasts more third-row room, greater cargo volume, and generally enough space to handle any family or growing business's growth. Senior Editor and correspondent Robert Duffer took a lengthy test drive of the new Tahoe around some of southern Michigan's Metroparks on Lake Erie and along the Huron River, and immediately loved the way the large vehicle felt from behind the wheel.

 

A brand-new independent rear suspension works overtime to cushion uneven grades, and magnetic dampers with available air suspension let the new Tahoe glide in a way that ranked way better than seen in the competition such as the Nissan Armada  and Toyota Sequoia. The 2021 Tahoe grows 6.7 inches longer to now become nearly as huge as the last-generation Suburban, and now sees cargo room increase by a whopping 30%. The wheelbase is extended by 4.9 inches to improve legroom in the third row, and also increase cargo volume to 25.5 cubic feet. 

 

This makes the new Tahoe an ideal choice for anyone going on super large grocery runs or shuttling loved ones from the airport, and second-row seats that slide forward and back five inches also help the comfort of rearseat passengers. If you start to have the need for hauling more massive cargo, another manual handle collapses the seat and lowers nearly two inches to yield a flat floor for 122.9 cubic feet of maximum storage. There are also power-folding third-row seats that can be raised or lowered from the cockpit or the rear liftgate.

 

Up front, the steering-column mounted shifter has now changed to an electronic shifter positioned on the dash between the 10.2-inch touchscreen and the dash. The available power center console slides 10 inches back, covering up a hidden tray and lower storage level. This feature allows second-row riders to access another set of USB ports and cupholders, and opting for the tech package provides second-row passengers with dual 12.6-inch LCD HD entertainment screens as well as adaptive cruise control.

The LTZ offers up amenities to make those on board a bit more comfortable, and with both sporting about the same price tag, the choice always comes down to the usual matter of personal preference. Each member of this dynamic duo comes with a 5.3-liter V8 that cranks out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The Trail Boss boasts a 10-speed automatic, and the LTZ has an 8-speed auto. The question at hand that this video put to the test is whether or not the truck with more gears possesses the necessary power to win an all-out showdown!

The two drag races that take place here dictate that the LTZ is the quicker of the pair. In the first race, the Trail boss driver is slower off the line, but the second time things look much more equal. The truck built for off-road duty ends up slightly behind its more luxurious rival from the same badge. The Fast Lane Truck also completed the task of doing a proper fuel economy check, with the route mostly traversing urban city streets.

As the staff at US News reported in their car section, one very healthy boast of the Silverado 1500 is that it has best-in-class towing capacity, as well as top-notch fuel economy with this year's new turbodiesel engine. Chevy Blazer Vs. Traverse Comparison Via Motor Trend: How do they Drive?

The Motor Trend team has tested the Chevy Blazer quite a bit since its release in 2019 and were very impressed by the RS trim at their SUV of the Year competition. Last week they decided to see how the Blazer stacked up against the larger 2019 Traverse Premier FWD, in some ways defying the typical comparison test. Since the Blazer and Traverse are not in direct competition with each other, it's not a classic stack up and showdown, but you will want to know which one is right for you.

Experienced writer Nick Yekikian says of the Traverse that it is “like a pair of Chuck Taylors – easy to live with and use every single day, but maybe not the best choice for any kind of exercise.” The Blazer, on the other hand, is illustrated by Nick as one that can “help you tackle the 5K” but has perhaps more limited uses as a result. One thing in common that both of these great SUVs have is that they are very similar in price range, as the Motor Trend crew compared the Traverse Premier and the Blazer RS.

There is quite a difference in interior that was pointed out here after investigation, as one issue to be immediately addressed is that the Traverse boasts three rows and seating for up to eight, and the Blazer has two rows and seating for five. As far as interior goes, this testing troupe regarded the Blazer as a “properly modern place to sit.” Climate controls are laid out in a straight line, and the temperature control knob on the larger side is so massive it's difficult to miss. The gauge clusters in the Blazer are a bit sportier, and the four-spoke steering wheel in the Blazer is has a bit sportier of an appearance.

Both vehicles derive power from 3.6-liter V6 engines, pared with nine-speed automatic transmissions. The Blazer cranks out 308 horsepower compared to the Traverse's 310 but finishes out ahead in the torque department with 270 stacked up to the Traverse's 266 lb-ft. Mainly due to its size, the Blazer is much easier to control than the Traverse, and you feel behind the wheel that the car will “do whatever you tell it to.” Even though the Traverse ranked a bit lower on the athletic side with this group, it needs to be addressed that you are carrying more people or cargo, and it is still surprisingly capable all-around for an SUV its size.

If there are fewer than five of you, the compact nature and competence of the Blazer is going to appeal to you and still be suitable and practical. We are going to go out on a limb and say that our personal favorite is the Blazer, with its slightly more aggressive stance and styling, but the task of having more to haul can be accomplished with the Traverse hands down, and with the same promise of safety, security, and longevity that every Chevy vehicle proudly offers!

2021 Camaro Preview and Trim Level Update Via Motor Authority

As the days of spring are eminent and you can hear the various types of engine roar here in Memphis during March, the coming of the new Camaro is going to be a topic of grave excitement! The biggest news from the staff on duty at Motor Authority this month was about the availability of the 10-speed automatic on 2021 Camaro SS models with the 1LE Track Performance Package. Before this, the package only came with the 6-speed manual when properly equipped on the SS.

For the exterior, there is the option of a new Wild Cherry Tincoat color for the convertible top. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now are included with wireless capability, and you'll be able to enjoy wireless charging on 2SS and 3LT trim levels. The engine lineup remains delightfully the same, beginning with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 rated at 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, followed up by a 3.6-liter V6 cranking out 355 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque.

When you step up to the V8 department, the first option is a 6.2-liter number with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, and the range-topper is the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, yielding 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, reserved under careful wraps for the Camaro ZL1. After driving the previous C7 model, she stated the new mid-engine setup is a wildly drastic improvement, and the four selectable driving modes give you ultimate control over steering, chassis, acceleration, and braking.

For the purists out there, even though there is not a stick-shift offered, you can enjoy manual mode with paddle shifting, although it is good to note that the new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic is faster than any human can shift manually. With a zero to 60 mph sprint of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph, the new Corvette absolutely can match speeds once reserved for Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and even Bugatti. 2021 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe Deemed by Cars.com as “Full of Refinement and the Good Stuff”

Auto expert Kelsey Mays of Cars.com was impressed right off the bat last week with the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 for their overall capability and drivetrain refinement. The new Suburban sports a tall grille bisected by twin crossbars with the traditional Chevy bowtie stamped on. The C-shaped and piped lighting elements provide a bit more in the ways of looks then they do on Chevy pickups, and the best news comes inside! The dashboard in the Suburban is more low-set than what resides in the Silverado and has a very open design with offset controls on different layers and a standard 10-inch touchscreen presiding above.

The second row can upgrade to dual 12.6-inch touchscreens that have the ability to stream independent content from any type of mobile device. With a longer wheelbase and new multilink independent rear suspension, both the Suburban and Tahoe now gain a bit of valuable legroom in the second and third rows, as well as cargo room for the long hauls you may have planned for the spring and summer months. Taking a closer look at the Tahoe, it now gains 40 percent more legroom and 66 percent more cargo room behind the third row.

In another feature from the knowledgeable and savvy Cars.com folks, they had a massive appreciation for the current year model for the indented headlights and split-level grill that are similar to what is seen on the Silverado 1500 pickup. We agree wholeheartedly with this editorial team when they claim that the pair looks just as massive as ever, with the Tahoe's longer wheelbase and extra length making it look almost as big as the Suburban. Writer Aaron Bragman even went as far as to say that “Their styling might be the best thing in the Chevy showroom, with interiors that demonstrate the best in packaging innovation”.

He also concluded that the interior of both is superior to that of the crosstown rival found in the Ford Expedition, especially on the RST trim and above. The switch to independent rear suspension now allows for a lower load floor and mounting point for the third-row seats and the packaging overall for both is more appealing and comfortable than ever before. Changes to both of these vehicles were due to customer feedback about a few necessary tweaks, and since we hastily listened and re-evaluated our stance, we are confident that this pair is scorchingly better than ever before!

2021 Chevy Equinox's Refreshed Style and RS Trim Featured on Motor1.com

Hailed as one of the best-selling SUVs ever, the Chevy Equinox has seen large success due to its perfect sizing, safety and technology features, and all sorts of rave reviews from numerous blogs and publications. Chevy Announces 27 mpg as the 2020 Corvette's Official Highway Number

This is the weekend that the C8.R race car makes its exciting debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and when Chevy made the official announcement regarding EPA rating. The upcoming mid-engine car is slated on the books to nail down 15 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway which stacks up quite well to the likes of the C7 before it, and the competition in the form of the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S. The outbound 2019 C7 Corvette had an EP rating of 15 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with the automatic transmission, and so the C8 fares better even with the extra weight.

The new model will do 490 miles on a single tank of gas in highway driving and outperforms the pricier McLaren 720 S on the highway, which is EPA rated at 22 mpg on the highway. Equipped with a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8, the 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray launched from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds during official testing by the Car and Driver staff and can reach speeds up to 184 mph.  Cylinder deactivation plays a huge role in the fuel usage scenario, and the 6.2-liter V8 morphs into a V4 by completely shutting down the valve operation in both banks.

As Car and Driver also said, the creation of the C8 was “pulling the pin and blowing up 65 years of history and heritage”, as the C8 made its debut to very large promises. One promise made to the auto-loving masses was that moving the engine back a few feet, adding around 35 horsepower, and putting to use a dual-clutch transmission would deem the 495-hp C8 Corvette quicker to 60 mph than the 755-hp C7 ZR1, even with the less favorable power-to-weight ratio.

During official testing, the C8 Corvette Z51 got to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds on its way to the 11.1-second quarter mile at a top speed of 123.2 mph. 2020 ZR2 Bison Deemed as “Stevens Pass Snowfall Conqueror” by Herald-Net

Typical customers here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis have been just like customers across the rest of the nation: 100% crazy for trucks! The 2020 Colorado mid-size pickup is available in a variety of configurations, with choice of extended-cab or crew versions, 3 different bed lengths, 3 engine choices, and the Work Truck, LT, Z71, and ZR2 trim levels. Mary Lowry of Everett, Washington's Herald-Net publication test drove the ZR2 when her area of Snohomish County was experiencing heavy snow and took the truck to a forest service road near Stevens Pass to put its off-road chops to the test. She was driving the 4WD short-box crew cab model, also equipped with the 2.8-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine and standard six-speed automatic transmission. This proper and off-road-ready setup cranks out 186 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and boasts a hefty 7,700 lb towing ability.

The Bison performance special edition is the first time that Chevy has collaborated with Michigan-based AEV, which is widely known as the premier entity for off-road additions. The Bison model features a flow-through Chevy lettered grille bar, AEV front and rear bumper, fog lamps, wheel moldings, front and rear floor liners, embroidered headrests, AEV 17-inch wheels, boron steel skid plates for the fuel tank, rear differential, and transfer case. There's even an AEV air snorkel, that can supply filtered air to the engine when plowing through extreme dust.

Mary also highlighted the great comfort factor that she enjoyed by means of a six-way power driver seat, heated front seats with power lumbar adjustment, a rear folding bench seat, heated tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, wireless device charging, 8-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay capability, and OnStar services with available Wi-Fi. GM Authority Provides First Look at 2020 Chevy Blazer's new Bright Blue Metallic Hue

When we told customers and fans alike around a year and a half ago here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis that the Blazer was coming back, it was very obvious to us that the excitement level was in the way upper end of the proud Chevy-badged stratosphere! The 2020 Chevy Blazer will feature a new Redline Edition as well as an optional turbo 2.0-L LSY 4-cylinder engine, but as our friends over at GM Authority reported this week, also sees the addition of 3 new exterior colors: Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Bright Blue Metallic.

Carbuzz.com Claims 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban “Destined For Segment Leadership”

When the New Year makes its way around here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis, it’s the perfect time to offer up a new generation of vehicles. As champagne glasses toast and the flurry of holidays continues, many reveling and watching the ball drops are thinking about their own resolutions and plans for their business and family. The full-size segment is a great place to start for a new vehicle when you are experiencing growth, and this year both the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban see additions such as an inline-six diesel.

There is also the first-time addition of a push-button shifter and independent rear suspension.  A hefty amount of capital has been invested into the Arlington plant over the last 4 years, resulting in a new body shop, paint shop, and numerous other state-of-the-art technologies to boost productivity and climate awareness during build. Chevy actually was the originator of the template for the modern SUV back in 1935. The same winning template is adhered to today, and both the Tahoe and Suburban have dominated based on their longstanding durability, and potential to effortlessly lug massive cargo.

Jay Traugott of Carbuzz.com wrote earlier this month that the “improved driving dynamics and new architecture” are key components in the Suburban's recipe for 12-generation domination, and it of course still comes with three rows of seats. The Tahoe has long seen its predominant rival as the Ford Expedition, which just saw a redesign a year ago. The incoming Tahoe boasts a 4.9-inch longer wheelbase than before and a 6.7-inch increase in length. All three rows are much more spacious, especially the third row where passengers will enjoy an extra 10 inches of legroom. The coveted High Country model is where you really get to upgrade the power on board: it brandishes the 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Poised to Unveil Higher-End Luxury Features

Early 2020 is when the all-new Chevy Trailblazer is set to make its first appearance, fitting comfortably into the lineup between the Trax and Equinox. As the staff of Newswheel reported last week, it's not just the low sticker price that could sway buyers right here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis and nationwide and that it will probably sport some unexpected luxury features as well. The images you can check out here reveal what appears to be a ventilated seating button situated on the center console, which would give the Trailblazer some stride and swagger regarding the ever-present competition.

While ventilated seats may only be present on testing prototype models, they could find their way into the final cut due to the increased demand for comfort and luxury features. As you dig deep into your New Year's vehicle wish list and go beyond the smaller items such as socks and sweaters, you'll see that the Chevy Equinox Premier trim level offers ventilated seats, on top of heated rear outboard seats. It would seem to make sense to see this carry over to the Trailblazer, a vehicle that will be no stranger to inclement weather or constantly changing conditions.

To the far corners of Tennessee or anywhere else you choose to roam, the Trailblazer features a large amount of helpful navigation and assistance technology. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have become staples and mainstays regarding what people expect for any new model, but we are very excited about the Chevrolet Infotainment System 3, another great additive that lets you stay seamlessly connected wherever you choose to explore. Wireless charging is also available, another feature that helps all your devices stay at peak potential without the familiar cord-dangling act.

2021 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe Tightly Clinch “Bigger and Better” Promise

Here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis, it is finally the time of year where thoughts of egg nog, classics on YouTube such as “Frosty the Snowman”, and cherishing loved ones visiting from out of state are on our minds. This is when many customers come to us and ask about various details and features of upcoming models, and begin to wonder which SUV, sedan, or truck would be ideal for them. We were lucky enough to see an all-new Silverado for the 2019 model year, and now it's time for our large-size SUVs to follow suit and offer up the best in what buyers want for new features. 

The 2021 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe will both have new LED lights standard on front and rear, along with 18-inch wheels. There will be 9 exterior colors to choose from, and the Suburban's wheelbase is now stretched 4.1 inches and is 1.3 inches longer overall. The Tahoe sees its wheelbase expand by an extra 4.9 inches, and overall length grows by 6.7 inches. Both SUVs are all brand-new underneath, and there is a huge upgrade in the form of a multi-link, independent rear suspension. With the solid axle no longer being in place, the ride should now be noticeably smoother no matter what terrain is at hand. 

For the brand new Tahoe, cargo space behind the third row now increases by 66 percent, and there is 122.9 cubic feet of storage total. The incoming Suburban gains 19 percent in back for total cargo capacity of 144.7 cubic feet. Now both models feature sliding second-row seats that provide much easier access to the back. When you are looking closely at a vehicle that can carry more passengers than average, one of the things on buyers' holiday wish lists was displays: as many as five displays are available on both of these models, and among them is a standard-issue 10-inch infotainment screen that is now the largest in the segment. 

It wasn't that many years ago when hauls that took the family out of town required books and board games to keep those on board entertained. While those options are still a great way to keep people occupied, we all know that the “screen has become king” as far as the long drives are concerned. Rear-seat passengers can also now enjoy two 12.6-inch LCD displays, allowing those not having to navigate the road freedom to enjoy their favorite means of digital downtime. The brand-new 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline 6 joins the ranks of the engines options list, cranking out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. When the urge to take a holiday test drive overcomes you, don't forget to inquire about the High Country models: this top-of-the-line trim offers the most distinct grille we've ever seen, and 22-inch wheels that are  the best automotive “Holiday tree trimming treat” we've seen! 

2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Both Slated for Debut December 10

This is most definitely the time of year when we realize how difficult it seems to be patient. Even adults can have a hard time anticipating the holidays, and it's not just the presents that will see themselves under the Christmas tree: many of us just can't wait for some extra downtime to rest! There will be new movies to choose from in the Netflix and Disney + cues, tempting sweets all over the house, and holiday music warming up the rooms. Just this past week, Jacob Oliva of Motor1.com had some good news for those feeling impatient this season: those waiting on the next-generation releases for the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe will officially not have to wait much longer!

According to a new report from GM Authority, December 10^th will be the date when customers  will be able to feast their eyes on this high-riding pair. They both will be riding on indpendent rear suspension setup, providing the ability to offer better ride quality as well as more rear space. Permanently departing from a live axle setup also benefits handling. When it comes to the exterior, GM Authority reported that both SUVS will have a new fascia and lighting, as well as new front air curtains that will help with fuel efficiency.

The Tahoe and Suburban are also expected to ride on the GM T1 ladder-frame platform, which is used on the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. This will deliver all-new underpinnings and engineering, and the new Tahoe will be as much as 300 pounds lighter as the outgoing model. There will be the introduction of the 3rd-generation Chevy infotainment system, as well as a noticeable boost in comfort and luxury during every ride. The new Tahoe will also see the new “Super Cruise” semi-autonomous driving feature, which allows the driver to remove their hands from the steering wheel during long periods of highway driving.

As far as the all-important engine expectations, the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban are expected to have the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder, and the heftier naturally-aspirated 5.3-Liter L84 V8. One of our neighboring states that has plenty of open Tundra and red rock to

2020 Chevy Bolt EV's Extended Range, “All-Around Excellence” Praised by Wards Auto

Wards Auto's Bob Gritzinger and his driving companion were just outside Portland, Oregon last week when they stopped outside for a quick recharge with the 2020 Chevy Bolt. The extra 20 miles of range in the new model makes a noticeable difference in a journey such as this: the two were headed from Seattle to Portland. The '20 Bolt's extra range was seen after some chemistry modifications to its cathode material in the batteries, and no changes were needed regarding mounting hardware or battery-pack space.

Rob Mantinan was the brunt of brains behind the engineering, and he says that the added range was possible without any changes in the car's 200-hp, 266 -lb -ft magnet traction motor or any of the control systems. The DC fast-charging did see an upgrade, allowing depleted batteries to now gain 100 miles of range in 30 minutes in mild temperatures, with some improved charging in cold weather too. The new year's model sees a revised front fascia, high-definition rear and 360-degree cameras, a camera-display rear-view mirror, and a new system that creates sound from external speakers in the front and rear of the vehicle to alert pedestrians.

This particular drive offered up weather elements such as sunshine to pouring rain, and they lamented that the Bolt performed “flawlessly” as they closely monitored the vitals to get the most out of a full charge. They extended the range to 259 miles by using regenerative braking, and by closely watching the cabin ventilation to not overuse air conditioning. The duo concluded that the latest model drove in every single way very similar to previous years, seeing to low-end torque, responsive regenerative braking, and a very smooth overall cruise. They had a great sense of ease with one-pedal accelerations, as well as braking down  to a full stop while using extra-regen low gear.

Here in the States, the Bolt absolutely remains the non-Tesla BEV champion, leading the competition against the BMW i3, Hyundai Kona, Nia Niro, Nissan Leaf, and Volkswagen Golf electric models. It's pretty easy to get used to the daily drive when it sinks in that Evs are nearly silent in operation, have much lower maintenance requirements, and provide a very instant amount of torque for very brisk off-the-line acceleration.

There is just shy of 17 cubic feet of luggage space behind the rear seats, and if you fold the backrests down this rises to 56 cubic feet. Another edition for the 2020 year is high-definition cameras for the available surround-view and backup systems, which adds to overall driver confidence.
