2021 Chevy Malibu Sport Edition Package Showcased in Autoblog.com

As the heat and dazzling rays of summer continue, we recognize the vast popularity of SUVs and crossovers as the number one family choice. Trucks are of course enjoying immense popularity as well, but the solid connection you get to the road and the fun of a sedan is still one of the remaining joys of the pure and exciting thrill of the road. Autoblog had a great feature this week about the incoming Chevy Malibu, which will add another exciting appearance package to the two already offered on the LT Trim.

It is called the Sport Edition and sees the addition of black bow-tie emblems and Malibu badges, a blacked-out grille, and 19-inch painted aluminum wheels wrapped in 245/4- all-season tires. This awesome new feature set duplicates the Midnight Edition Package's add-ons that are offered on the current model Malibu but are instead just available on any color scheme but Mosaic Black Metallic. You can also opt for the Redline Edition Package, which stealthily blacks out the bow-tie badges, grilles, and logos, puts a red border around the Malibu script, affixes black mirror caps, and adds on a set of 19-inch black wheels with red hash marks.

Everyone here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis always enjoys referring to the GM Authority blog as a great point of reference for models coming soon and just what features they will offer. The 2021 model is expected to be based on the new GM VSS-F platform, which will deliver fresh underpinnings and engineering, as well as all-new both exterior and interior designs. You'll see improved packaging, yielding a larger-sized usable interior. A next-generation infotainment system is expected, as well as the potential addition of all-wheel-drive as an option.

The incoming Malibu is expected to offer the choice of 1.4-L or 1.5-L turbocharged I-4 engine, and a 2.0-l Displacement turbocharged I-4 engine. Proudly assembled in the USA, the hard-working men and women that make the Malibu a reality are located at the GM Kansas City factory. Familiar and popular, the Malibu has already made its debut this year at the New York Auto Show. This is expected to be a more luxurious and efficient model compared to the ones before it as well as the firm competition in the forms of the Toyota Camry, Subaru Legacy, and Nissan Altima.

The new style on the exterior features new headlamps, front aprons, taillights, and split front grille that adds a heightened touch of luxury, and also will see a few more cues from the Impala than models before it. The new Malibu is 2.3 inches longer than its predecessor, and also now included a 7-inch color touch screen to control various commands, as well as storage slots for mobile phones and new leather seating covers. We believe the most important safety feature the Malibu boasts is Teen Driver: especially in times like these, it will give you a fully-scored “report card” describing whereabouts, speed limits, and whether seat belts are being used.

GM Authority On 2021 Trailblazer Trim Levels: Each Trim Boasts its Own Set

Growing families and small business owners that come to see us frequently here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis while they are collecting their thoughts regarding a new vehicle purchase are drawn to Crossover SUVS. This category admittedly makes the most sense to many: it is practical, fuel-efficient, and still equipped for all-important outdoor duty when it comes to the lake for a weekend. The all-new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer was just featured on the GM Authority blog this week, and they put together a very comprehensive guide to the wheels, just as they did for the Corvette model last year.

Four of the five 2021 Trailblazer wheel choices are made of aluminum, while one set is comprised of durable steel. All the wheels range from 16 to 18 inches in diameter and vary in design and finish. The prime focus of the article was that every single trim level gets its own wheels, with the base L model getting 16-inch steel wheels with covers, the LS, LT, and ACTIV models getting various sets of 17-inch aluminum wheels, and RS models getting 18-inch aluminum wheels.

The gallery here shows plenty of detail, and our favorite is most definitely the 18-model that is seen on the RS trim. For the ultimate car geek embedded deep in all of us, there's a very detailed spec- layout of the RPO Code, Diameter, Material, Finish, and Trim Level that each wheel finds its home within. After a close look at all the available wheels for the all-new Trailblazer subcompact SUV, we'd say that there is an ample amount of variety and visual appeal to sway just about anyone!

What many new owners are finding out they love so much about the Equinox is its styling: the very bold proportions and sculpted design make it look modern and the grille sports more height than the tinier front ends of some of the competition. Passengers stay in optimum comfort with best-in-class rear seat legroom, and plenty of different spots to store what the need most on board. You'll get plenty of time to enjoy the Chevy Infotainment 3 System with 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen, AM/FM stereo, and Bluetooth audio streaming for two active devices, and voice command pass-through to compatible phone.

You’ll find the ultimate traction to meet your needs with included Normal, All-Wheel Drive, and Sport drive modes, and this SUV comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist as well as a long additional safety and driver assistance features that can help keep you safe while navigating where life calls you on the road. Now more than ever, having “report cards” generated on more than just your teen’s school performance hails safety as well. It’s great to know via Teen Driver Technology if those dearest to you have overstepped their boundaries, speed limit, or tailgating within the last day!

2021 Chevy Colorado Billed By Kelley Blue Book as “Best in its Class for Towing, Accounts for Every Budget”

The staff on duty at Kelly Blue Book have always been known for clear, competent, and concise reviews on the latest of everything auto related. This past week they took on the test-drive duty for our prized 2021 Chevy Colorado and loved right off the bat how it is the most customizable of the midsize truck segment. They also gave it an exceedingly high level of praise for the refreshed exterior styling, and very comfortable ride and handling.

New features for this model year are a refreshed front fascia, revised badging, paint colors, and wheel options, and the availability of the Chrome Appearance package now on the LT trim. Here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis you can choose from the smaller 5-foot 2-inch bed, or the larger 6-ft 2-inch version. It comes in 2- and 4-wheel drive, and the KBB staff claims that the Colorado checks off more boxes than most when it comes to overall form and function. They were so impressed by the Colorado's overall capability that Kelley Blue Book named it the midsize Pickup Truck Best Buy of 2020.

It was a mix of being the visually most impressive and having the most options when it boils right down to the all-important engine choice. The diesel engine offers up the absolute best-in-class towing capacity for the Chevy brand, and you can configure the truck in more ways than any other in the genre, including stiff competitors such as the Jeep Gladiator, Toyota Tacoma, and Ford Ranger. While on the highway, the Kelley Blue Book test drive staff said that the steering feels surprisingly snug, and not like a typical truck. They simply did not experience the bounce and vibration that you usually can't avoid on the interstate with a vehicle capable of hauling and towing so much.

The 2.8-liter Duramax diesel is an exceptionally good choice for hauling a trailer and for buyers on the hunt for great mileage stats. The 2021 Chevy Colorado also continues to offer truck buyers the cream of the crop with serious off-road equipment, additional skid plates under the most valuable components, and very high-tech Multimatic shocks. The 2021 LT sees an upgraded Infotainment 3 system, and 8-inch touchscreen display. The ZR2 gets a new front fascia that looks more aggressive than ever while retaining the traditional frame and trademark rugged exterior.

We can relate to the sentiment the testing crew has here that rings true: “The ZR2 looks ready to go rock-crawling over the weekend and then get your properly to the office on Monday”. The team also praised the fact that every budget feels accounted for when it comes to this model: the base Work Truck trim is powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine brandishing a 5,500-pound towing capacity on the rear-drive model. There is the option to add features such as a spray-in bedliner, fog lights, and cargo-bed storage rails, as well as a low-speed transfer case. Very helpful for long truck beds, Chevy offers rear-parking assist along with the rear-view camera, providing alerts for any foreign objects at the rear of the truck.

GM Authority Reports on Supercharged 6.2-Liter LT4 V8 Engine as a Possibility for Chevy Silverado ZRX

The upcoming Chevy Silverado ZRX may be the lucky recipient of Chevy's supercharged 6.2-L LT4 V8 engine, and the always-on-point staff of GM Authority offered up the details on their blog last week. It was reported here that according to TFL Truck, Chevy is hard at work on a version just for trucks of the supercharged 6.2L LT4 engine. It's set to make its way into the Chevy Silverado ZRX off-road pickup, our stealth competitor right here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis going up directly against the Ram Rebel TRX and Ford Raptor.

This high-performance engine that is already installed in the hefty pony in the form of the Chevy Camaro ZL1 cranks out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. GM Authority is one of those rare publications that waits very stealth-like in the shadows until things become official to activate the digital ink, and when they first wrote about the Silverado ZRX it was during September of 2019 after they had uncovered a trademark filing for the name in late summer.

This exciting off-road model will share many similarities with the Chevy Colorado ZR2, offering up MultiMatic DSSV Dampers, trustier suspension, front and rear electronic lockers, and modified bumper treatments for improved departure and approach angles. The ZRX is also going to feature the GM 10-Speed automatic transmission, but there are many hints that could show how GM will offer a more powerful engine option in the future as well. This truck-specific version of the 6.2-L LT4 V8 is slated to be used in other Chevy full-size SUVs, and perhaps even in a performance-focused Cadillac Escalade with a supercharged V8.

When it comes to the construction and finishing of a killer truck, the question then looms regarding where will it be shown at its best and highest performance. The announcement was also made last year about the brand-new off-road racing program for the Silverado ZRX, boasting a Silverado LT Trail Boss with MultiMatic DSSV dampers leading the way in the Best of the Desert off-road series. This will be the hands-on experiment that will provide the answers on how to develop suspension and other components in the more demanding areas of the motor sports arena.

In spy shots that appeared on the web earlier this year, the dampers seem to bear Rancho branding, the outfit who also supplies the pieces for the Z71 Off-Road package on the Silverado. It is also expected to see the new model with a major interior upgrade, seeing improvements to the infotainment system as well as a re-tweaked center stack. What the ZRX will actually bring to the table is the existence of an off-road-ready model a bit bigger than the ZR2, protected heavily by the best skid plates in the business and a major face-lift for an award-winning pickup poised to dominate any boulder-strewn and dirt-laden landscape!

2021 Camaro Preview and Trim Level Update Via Motor Authority

As the days of spring are eminent and you can hear the various types of engine roar here in Memphis during March, the coming of the new Camaro is going to be a topic of grave excitement! The biggest news from the staff on duty at Motor Authority this month was about the availability of the 10-speed automatic on 2021 Camaro SS models with the 1LE Track Performance Package. Before this, the package only came with the 6-speed manual when properly equipped on the SS.

For the exterior, there is the option of a new Wild Cherry Tincoat color for the convertible top. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now are included with wireless capability, and you'll be able to enjoy wireless charging on 2SS and 3LT trim levels. The engine lineup remains delightfully the same, beginning with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 rated at 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, followed up by a 3.6-liter V6 cranking out 355 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque.
When you step up to the V8 department, the first option is a 6.2-liter number with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, and the range-topper is the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, yielding 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, reserved under careful wraps for the Camaro ZL1. Everyone here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis expects sales of the 2021 Camaro to begin in the fall, as we happily celebrate the 6th generation of this fearless and fast muscle number. The Redline Edition and RS packages will now expand their availability to the LT1 trim, and as often as a battery-powered Camaro for the 7th generation has seen rumors, it may be a few years until anyone in the industry finds out if it is really true.

Watching this very cool video from Autoblog.com, you get a first-rate sampling of the Camaro's startup and engine note. Those two pipes on the lower left are the ones we have always been in love with, and the one that stack up next to the Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang on any given day! First appearing on roads in 1966, the Camaro has been ruling the streets valiantly for 52 years with the strut and swagger that only a number this flexed-out can attain. The ZL1 is as the folks on staff at Carfacta say “The true monster, and beast in the entire  muscle car lineup.” Now possessing a retro-cool that is still infinitely modern, this review from Chevycarusa.com  also depicts just in how many ways it is superior to the best any star-studded rival has to offer up!

2021 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe Deemed by Cars.com as “Full of Refinement and the Good Stuff”

Auto expert Kelsey Mays of Cars.com was impressed right off the bat last week with the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 for their overall capability and drivetrain refinement. The new Suburban sports a tall grille bisected by twin crossbars with the traditional Chevy bowtie stamped on. The C-shaped and piped lighting elements provide a bit more in the ways of looks then they do on Chevy pickups, and the best news comes inside! The dashboard in the Suburban is more low-set than what resides in the Silverado and has a very open design with offset controls on different layers and a standard 10-inch touchscreen presiding above.

The second row can upgrade to dual 12.6-inch touchscreens that have the ability to stream independent content from any type of mobile device. With a longer wheelbase and new multilink independent rear suspension, both the Suburban and Tahoe now gain a bit of valuable legroom in the second and third rows, as well as cargo room for the long hauls you may have planned for the spring and summer months. Taking a closer look at the Tahoe, it now gains 40 percent more legroom and 66 percent more cargo room behind the third row.

We recognize here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis that right now the Ford Expedition is the class leader in this third-row space category, and it's one of the reasons we have made such great strides to catch up! In both the Suburban and Tahoe there are now completely adjustable second-row seats, a feature that helps greatly on long trips and when dealing with getting perfectly comfortable and creating more (or less) room when needed.
In another feature from the knowledgeable and savvy Cars.com folks, they had a massive appreciation for the current year model for the indented headlights and split-level grill that are similar to what is seen on the Silverado 1500 pickup. We agree wholeheartedly with this editorial team when they claim that the pair looks just as massive as ever, with the Tahoe's longer wheelbase and extra length making it look almost as big as the Suburban. Writer Aaron Bragman even went as far as to say that “Their styling might be the best thing in the Chevy showroom, with interiors that demonstrate the best in packaging innovation”.

He also concluded that the interior of both is superior to that of the crosstown rival found in the Ford Expedition, especially on the RST trim and above. The switch to independent rear suspension now allows for a lower load floor and mounting point for the third-row seats and the packaging overall for both is more appealing and comfortable than ever before. Changes to both of these vehicles were due to customer feedback about a few necessary tweaks, and since we hastily listened and re-evaluated our stance, we are confident that this pair is scorchingly better than ever before!
