Trucks used to be judged predominantly by max tow ratings and their horsepower stats, while today’s full-size models seem to be judged by high-end interior spaces alongside their tech features. The 2022 Silverado 1500 boasts a modernized dashboard, many advanced features, and all the power truck owners expect.
As always, selecting the top-of-the-line High Country trim provides awesome extras such as open-pore wood. There is now a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster on board, with a 13.4-inch touchscreen. With the competition, you’ll only find a 12-inch screen. The Silverado’s new infotainment system comes with Google’s voice assistant, maps, and user-friendly app store.
The available Super Cruise technology offers completely hands-free and tech-assisted driving that can even be used while pulling a trailer. Entry-level Silverado trucks are equipped with a safety suite that includes everything from automatic high-beam headlights to automated emergency braking to lane-keeping assist.
Power is no problem for the 2022 Silverado 1500. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder has been completely reworked and now offers 420 lb/ft of torque, delivering more punch and class-leading performance from a slightly smaller power source. You could also go the other direction with the Duramax diesel 3.0-liter inline-six, which flaunts an impressive 13,300-lb towing capacity.
With three large bed and cab choices, powerful and efficient engine range, and the added capability of the off-road ZR2 trim, the wide front fascia is still an instrumental part of the vehicle. There’s so much to love about the 5.3-liter V8, which cranks out 355 horsepower and 383 lb/ft of torque, as well as the 6.2-liter V8 with its pairing to the 10-speed automatic transmission. The available tailgate goes up or down on command from a quick push of a button, and there is also now a six-way power tailgate available to pair with a bed with 12 tie-downs.
