New Chevy 2016 Malibu, Cruze Active Safety Tech Featured in New Movie Preview

Horror movie parody compares active safety warnings as seen on new vehicles at Chuck Hutton Chevy

The horror movie cliche is that the protagonist usually ignores all the safety warnings laid out in the movie. A wise old sage saying not to go into the forest, the shopkeeper advising you not to buy this haunted relic, ghosts telling you not to go into this room — you’ve probably seen or heard them all.

What if the character actually listened to these active safety warnings? In a new ad campaign from Chevrolet, the bowtie brand explores what would happen if someone actually heeded these warnings. It’s similar for the active safety features available on new 2016 Chevrolet Malibus and — coming soon — 2016 Cruzes. These offered features and technologies do their parts to help keep the driver and passenger safer.

Perhaps the next time you go to the movies you’ll see this Chevrolet spot. U.S. Vice President of Marketing Paul Edwards said Chevrolet wanted to find new ways to grab attention and educate consumers about the new safety features.

“With this trailer, we have thrown a twist into that quintessential, edge of your seat horror movie moment to highlight the comprehensive suite of available active safety technologies in our new Malibu and Cruze,” Edwards said.

Sam Raimi, horror film director who worked with such films as the “Evil Dead” series directed this new Chevrolet spot.

“I’ve been in plenty of theatres where the audience is so concerned for the safety of the main characters that they call out warnings to save them,” Raimi said. “That’s what this is based on.”

Active safety features on Chevy Malibu and Cruze

Available safety features include:

—Front Pedestrian Alert that uses a forward-looking camera to help avoid or reduce the harm caused by crashes with pedestrians ahead of the vehicle. The system can apply automatic last-second braking
—Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
—Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert
—New Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator
—Rear Cross Traffic Alert
—Front and Rear Park Assist
—Intellibeam, which automatically switches the headlamps to high beam for better road illumination and improved visibility
—Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Automatic Braking
—Automatic Parking Assist

No One Expects the Chevy Malibu: ’16 Malibu Challenges Consumers’ Perceptions

If you were looking for a new midsize sedan near Memphis and saw quality materials, tried out the new technology and sat in the roomy cabin, what brand would you expect — Lexus, BMW, Acura? Chevrolet set out to challenge new car buyers’ perceptions as to what an American sedan can offer for a lower price with the 2016 Malibu.

The “Real People, Not Actors” campaign has been putting real people in focus groups and demos of Chevrolet vehicles and their features. Most of the time, the reviewers don’t know that Chevrolet offers the most and newest technology and highest-quality builds. Next up for Chevrolet was the redesigned and reinvigorated 2016 Malibu such as the ones we have at Chuck Hutton Chevrolet.

In the new “Underbranded” commercial, consumers evaluate the 2016 Chevy Malibu with all the nameplates and badges removed. Already a finalist for the 2016 North American Car of the Year, the people’s true reactions to the Malibu are — at first glance — that the vehicle is an Acura or BMW.

Once inside, the reviewers feel the materials and try out new technology such as the Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Eyebrows are raised once the optional Teen Driver and Front Automatic Braking are divulged. The real people estimated the sedan’s price range between $50,000 and $80,000 dollars.

The consumers are surprised once they hear it’s a Chevy Malibu and that prices start at less than $24,000 for entry trims. For 2016, the Malibu was made longer, lighter and even more fuel efficient. The interior has more leg room for a better Chevrolet experience than previous models, and the upcoming Malibu Hybrid has a GM-estimated 48 mpg city.

The next time you see a sophisticated, lively midsize sedan, maybe you should be expecting a Chevy Malibu. At Chuck Hutton Chevrolet, we have new 2016 Malibus to test drive near Memphis for yourself.
