Trucks.com Doles out High Marks for 2020 Chevy Silverado in “Raw Power, Performance, and Competence”

Trucks.com spent 900 miles and the better part of a week with the privilege of driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 sporting the upscale High Country trim package to fully experience the ins and outs of this fantastic truck. Their test vehicle was the Silverado crew cab with 4-wheel drive, and what they liked about it most was definitely the power. They were putting to the test a 5.3-liter V8, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Even though that is more than enough power for the vast majority of half-ton pickup truck users, everyone these days likes to have so much more on deck than may be practical. The team first took the truck on I-5 through the Grapevine and Tejon Pass in Southern California, and the bed was heftily loaded down with furniture and household goods. They didn't do any towing on that specific drive, but if they needed to, the rating for this year's Silverado is situated at 9,300 lbs.

Any Silverado that brandishes the proud badge of engine known as the V8 comes with a fuel-saving system that will turn off up to seven of the 8 cylinders. This Dynamic Fuel Management is a first in the industry and can operate in 17 different cylinder patterns to achieve optimum efficiency. There is also a start/stop feature that takes action during red lights or stop signs, and expert writer Jerry Hursch claimed it worked very smoothly.

The brand-new truck platform as well as architecture gave designers the freedom to make the cabin larger, and add about 7 more inches width to the bed. When the group loaded and unloaded their cargo, the 63 cubic-feet of space and tie-downs in the perfect places were of great help. A Memphis Milestone in Efficiency: Chevy Bolt Enjoys Top Honors from Consumer Reports

From sights like the Fire Museum to the interesting nooks of the Cotton Exchange, every single Memphis resident has abundant opportunities to enjoy living in a city that has a distinct flair, and is a noticeable notch above the rest in hospitality. Other city dwellers in locations such as the Pacific Northwest may be under the impression that car buyers in Memphis are not as concerned as others with electric cars, and the improvement of the environment. But many conversations with those on the lot have told us otherwise, and we hear from many avid consumers who are excitedly watching the disappearance of the need for fuel on the very near horizon.





It was just recently announced that the Chevy Bolt electric vehicle has claimed first place for all-electric vehicles in Consumer Reports' testing, by achieving the feat of 250 miles on a single charge. In another industry test, the Bolt went head to head against the 2016 Tesla Model S 75D, which ran out of juice at the 235-mile mark. The Bolt Triumphantly pushed on for another 15 miles, and we are proud to offer a vehicle that is the main contender as far as the electric performance spectrum is concerned. The Consumer Reports Auto Test Center pushes cars to their performance limits across 327 acres in spacious Connecticut, where there is plenty of time and space to make a positive or negative ruling on performance.



The cars team tests around 60 vehicles per year, driving them for a grand total of around 900,000 miles. Data regarding the reliability and satisfaction of the cars is collected from our subscribers to add weight to the decisions, and a full-time staff of 30 individuals is needed to complete the demanding and thorough job. Consumer Reports purchases every vehicle they test from a dealer, and this gives them the opportunity to be very thorough with the ways in which result in the best possible information given to the customer. Each vehicle is driven for 2,000 break-in miles over the course of several weeks, before the very structured testing even begins.
