Chevy Suburban now First Vehicle to Claim Star on Iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame

The world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame is where tourists have been flocking for decades to catch a glimpse of their very own favorite star underfoot, as there are thousands of five-pointed stars etched into the sidewalk. It is just as much a necessary staple of the area such as the Santa Cruz boardwalk and Disneyland, it has become a rite of passage for nearly everyone who makes a touristy visit to the LA metro area. All of us here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis were proud to receive the announcement that our very own Chevy Suburban SUV will have its spot embedded in the sidewalk as well.

 The Suburban is the first vehicle to snag an award of excellence in film and television, presented this past week by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and unveiled at a special ceremony right on Hollywood Boulevard. The new star is situated on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland under the Dolby Arches, adjacent to the Walk of Fame. Hollywood picture car coordinator Dennis McCarthy stated that “It is one of the most versatile vehicles in the business, and able to fit in with any type of character”. He also states placidly that any scene on film benefits from a sense of added importance with the Suburban's presence.

The Suburban began its successful relationship with Hollywood in 1952 and has since then appeared in more than 1,750 films and TV series numbers. Since 1956, it has made its appearance in at least more than one series a year, and at least one on the big screen every year since 1960. Its running mate is by all means identified as the Chevy Tahoe, as the combo has appeared collectively  in 2,500 films  and television shows. Rana Ghadban, CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, stated last week that “For six decades the Chevrolet Suburban has been Hollywood's longest-working actor”,  and billed it as an industry mainstay.

The 2020 Suburban is one of the largest full-size SUVs money can buy and boasts more vital interior room than its fierce competitors Nissan Armada and the Toyota Sequoia, as well as better features in the tech category. When equipped with the available front bench, the Suburban can hold up to nine passengers, with plenty of space left behind its third-row seat for the other goods that need to meet up at destination B. Forbes Magazines' Dale Buss has been around reviewing the best and worst of the auto industry for quite some time and recognizes that economic sensibility is now making its way into the industry at every turn. He even states that everyone he knows is driving an Equinox these days: this is the slam-dunk SUV that commands a very tempting sweet spot for Americans at the place where style and budget-minded practice intersects. This is a place that in current times is very difficult for the average mainstream consumer to resist, as more character has been injected into daily drivers than ever before.

With the latest version, the Equinox is positioned in a very favorable spot between the Trax subcompact crossover, and right below the larger 3-row Traverse SUV. The newest model has seen some slimming down both inside and out, dropping more than 400 pounds when stacked up to the model that was in existence before 2017. The fuel economy numbers ring in at the higher points, which is always appreciated: 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway with the base engine are the stats on tap.

The base 170 horsepower, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is ample for errand running with some get-up-and-go, and can be upgraded to the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that offers up stronger acceleration and 252 horsepower. The Forbes staff ranked the Equinox as perfectly sure-footed and confident during every routine situation, as well as nimble compared to the likes of the Honda CRV. Infotainment features that now come as standard are a seven-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio system, two USB ports, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Only a single part has been carried over from the last generation, and the brand-new LT2 V8 engine is visible through a rear hatch window.

The Available Engine Appearance Package adds to the mix carbon-fiber components as well as LED lights that illuminate the engine, and warm weather enthusiasts everywhere will love the no-compromises convertible whose hardtop flows seamlessly into the body while maintaining world-class storage capability. 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Both Slated for Debut December 10

This is most definitely the time of year when we realize how difficult it seems to be patient. Even adults can have a hard time anticipating the holidays, and it's not just the presents that will see themselves under the Christmas tree: many of us just can't wait for some extra downtime to rest! There will be new movies to choose from in the Netflix and Disney + cues, tempting sweets all over the house, and holiday music warming up the rooms. Just this past week, Jacob Oliva of Motor1.com had some good news for those feeling impatient this season: those waiting on the next-generation releases for the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe will officially not have to wait much longer!

According to a new report from GM Authority, December 10^th will be the date when customers  will be able to feast their eyes on this high-riding pair. They both will be riding on indpendent rear suspension setup, providing the ability to offer better ride quality as well as more rear space. Permanently departing from a live axle setup also benefits handling. When it comes to the exterior, GM Authority reported that both SUVS will have a new fascia and lighting, as well as new front air curtains that will help with fuel efficiency.

The Tahoe and Suburban are also expected to ride on the GM T1 ladder-frame platform, which is used on the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. This will deliver all-new underpinnings and engineering, and the new Tahoe will be as much as 300 pounds lighter as the outgoing model. There will be the introduction of the 3rd-generation Chevy infotainment system, as well as a noticeable boost in comfort and luxury during every ride. Autoweek Provides 0-60 MPH Data Confirming New C8 Corvette's Elite Speed Status

When all of the years of waiting finally reached an ending point and the mid-engined Corvette became a reality, one thing was evident: the finale result was a car that had the bragging rights of an otherworldly acceleration factor. As Graham Kozak from Autoweek declared last week on the blog, it is always nice to have official figures to back speed time boastings up with raw data. When the count makes it's way officially in, the base model Corvette coupe does 0-60 MPH in a shaved-even 3.0 seconds.

If equipped with the Z51 Performance Package, it has said to shave another valuable tenth of a second off the time, and with perfectly ideal track conditions could maybe even accomplish better than that. One other very well-stated sentiment regarding performance here is that the basic 2020 Corvette with the Z51 package reaches the 60 mph mark just as fast as the C7 ZR1, and this is only the beginning of the new model's determined and performance-focused development. Even with the massive improvements to the LT2, this still behaves like a GM V-8, which is a noteworthy component that keeps the new Stingray at a base price on the low end. We never get tired of the “performance roar” factor that rang in after the brand-new C8 came out on the scene, and the many new converts it has claimed within its accomplished engineering feat! 

2020 Chevy Bolt EV's Extended Range, “All-Around Excellence” Praised by Wards Auto

Wards Auto's Bob Gritzinger and his driving companion were just outside Portland, Oregon last week when they stopped outside for a quick recharge with the 2020 Chevy Bolt. The extra 20 miles of range in the new model makes a noticeable difference in a journey such as this: the two were headed from Seattle to Portland. The '20 Bolt's extra range was seen after some chemistry modifications to its cathode material in the batteries, and no changes were needed regarding mounting hardware or battery-pack space.

Rob Mantinan was the brunt of brains behind the engineering, and he says that the added range was possible without any changes in the car's 200-hp, 266 -lb -ft magnet traction motor or any of the control systems. The DC fast-charging did see an upgrade, allowing depleted batteries to now gain 100 miles of range in 30 minutes in mild temperatures, with some improved charging in cold weather too. The new year's model sees a revised front fascia, high-definition rear and 360-degree cameras, a camera-display rear-view mirror, and a new system that creates sound from external speakers in the front and rear of the vehicle to alert pedestrians.

This particular drive offered up weather elements such as sunshine to pouring rain, and they lamented that the Bolt performed “flawlessly” as they closely monitored the vitals to get the most out of a full charge. They extended the range to 259 miles by using regenerative braking, and by closely watching the cabin ventilation to not overuse air conditioning. The duo concluded that the latest model drove in every single way very similar to previous years, seeing to low-end torque, responsive regenerative braking, and a very smooth overall cruise. They had a great sense of ease with one-pedal accelerations, as well as braking down  to a full stop while using extra-regen low gear.

Midnight and Rally Special Editions Add Hue of Dark + Urban Flair to the 2020 Silverado

Everyone on duty here at Chuck Hutton of Memphis were proud to see Chevy's very strong presence this year at one of the most All-American events to ever exist: the great State Fair of Texas. This is where two new special editions for the 2020 Silverado were debuted: the Midnight and Rally editions both outfit the truck with a mix of trim to make them fully-customized directly from the showroom.

The Midnight edition sees a two-inch suspension lift and carries over the features from the Z71 Package, including automatic locking rear differential, Rancho mono-tube shocks, skid plates, and 18-inch black-painted wheels with Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires. Jet black is by far the name of the game, as it sees black pieces for the grill, bumpers, exhaust tips, side steps, and badges. The Midnight Edition is available on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trims. The power source for the LT Trail Boss version is a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, paired to a 10-speed automatic. The Custom Trail Boss is available with this powertrain, or a 5.3 liter V8 and 6-speed automatic.

The Silverado Rally Edition plays much less on the cloaking hue of night, while still available in Black, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White exterior colors. It features a body-color grille, in addition to black stripes along the hood and tailgate. Our favorite touch is the black elements you'll find on the exhaust tips, badges, and side steps, and on the Custom trim level, the RST grade rolls on 22-inch wheels while the special edition rides on 20-inch black wheels. All interested customers have been able to begin ordering the Rally and Midnight editions during October, and deliveries should begin by year's end.
