Dwelling on the Prowess of the Durabed: Hailing the Heart and Soul of the Silverado 1500

During peak season here in Memphis at Chuck Hutton, many of the customers we talk to are looking for a vehicle that is the biggest and baddest, and can do anything from hauling to the job site as well as helping move your cousin to college! The new-for-2019 Silverado 1500 is going to come up quite often in conversations, because it is now the best-in-class cargo volume, box depth, box length at floor, plus its touting of class-leading 12 fixed tie-downs. The 2019 Silverado 1500 is the most functional bed of any pickup, proudly roaring ahead of many other competitors in a category that can matter most.

The bed is the absolute heart and soul of any pickup, so several improvements were  made to the Silverado to give customers a hauling experience that is more functional, and it has had so many features added to it, that it deserves its own name: Durabed. The short box's volume is now up to 20 percent more than any competitor's, and most of this desired increase was achieved by widening the maximum width of the bed floor by ten percent, which was then finalized to be chosen to be implemented across all three bed sizes. The very capable and durable higher grade steel is being used in the construction of Durabed as well, and the quality of the bed floor materials have improved drastically, from 340 to 500 megapascals.

When you are in the middle of a demanding day and need anything from cargo to your favorite motorized toys tied down, the last thing you will want to worry about is the dependability of your tie-downs. In the very new Silverado model, each of these has doubled from 250 lbs to 500 lbs of force before bending, and an additional nine movable tie-down points are available as well for even more valuable flexibility of cargo. Tie-downs are now located at different heights to offer customers a greater amount of variety in what they can haul and secure. The now-standard Durabed truck bed has the feature of much larger cutouts in the GM-exclusive CornerStep bumpers, to better accommodate the sometimes-necessary presence of the steel-toed boot wearing driver or worker.

We hope you come down to check out all of the awesome features of the upcoming  2018 Silverado with us down here at Chuck Hutton, and use a test drive during the fall to your advantage, to see which features fit your needs best. The Durabed is also going to be available with integrated, in-bed LED lighting, as well as a 110/120 – volt power outlet. A light at the top of the rear cab now also comes standard on all Silverado models. TheStandard Gate is a manual gate with no lift assist, which you can manually lock with a key.

The Standard Gate with Lift Assist is a stamped gate that is also manually lockable with a key, and includes the useful lift assist feature. You'll also love the industry-exclusive power up/down feature, now available on the LTZ, and standard on High Country: you can raise or lower the tailgate using the key fob, and it is power-lockable, with lift assist, as well as automatic release. It's always exciting to see trucks that are already the best in the business get better, and the new Silverado's Durabed is ready and able to stack up avidly against any of the high-ranked competition in the full-size truck realm!

Chuck Hutton's Late Summer Look at the Horizon: 2019 Malibu Specs + Features

As the back-to-school season begins to creep up closer for all of us here in Memphis, it may be time to figure out just which vehicle will perfectly meet your needs! We know that crossover SUV's have become all of the rage lately, but it's absolutely true that a stellar midsize sedan could meet your needs perfectly! Fuel economy, base price, and new features are some of the biggest driving factors for any new car that customers we talk to here at Jim Butler are looking for. The Malibu is one of those that customers have always loved instantly, and much thought was given to the new year's additives.

There is a completely restyled front and rear, with new front fascia, headlamps, and  grilles. Dual-element tail lamps, with the availability of LED taillights to boot, as well as a new rear fascia are all included as striking new elements this fall. There is a brand-new 8-inch reconfigurable color driver information center, and the Chevy Infotainment 3 has a new, 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen radio, with newly-available navigation features to help you get your bearings in any inclement situation. Come check out how selecting the L Trim can provide for you a rear-vision camera, an enormous help to see behind you in grave detail if you need to back up in a hurry.

Looking at different trims are the name of the game as far as finding the vehicle perfect for your specific situation, and the Premier Trim may just be the one you've always been looking for: you'll get to snag rear heated outboard seats, and CVT transmission on models with the 1.5L Turbo engine. One of the comments we've been hearing about the all-new Malibu RS is that the appearance seems much more personalized and sportier than the year's before, and blacked-out styling cues including a black sport grille, bowtie emblems rear spoiler, and 18-inch wheels as well as dual-outlet exhaust help round off the appearance. Inside, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter, and black cloth seats are other highlights that give the driver the ability to enjoy the best in upper-end stylings, at the entry-level pricing point.

The L, LS, RT, and LT are powered by the 1.5L Turbo engine, which uses a
Continously Variable Transmission; the slightly headier 2.0 L Turbo engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission is standard on Premier. OnStar 4G LTE with wi-fi hotspot is standard on LS, RS, and LT, which now includes the 3 GB 3-month data trial. We invite you to take the trip down to Chuck Hutton of Memphis this fall and feast your eyes on the Malibu that is coming soon: With features like the Driver Confidence Package II, it provides the features of Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, and the useful nighttime aid of IntelliBeam automatic high-beam control.

ZL1 Camaro 2019 Facelift Feature: Mounting Excitement on the Lot

Summer is the time when racing action is the name of the game for all of our track-hungry Chuck Hutton Customers, and the Memphis International Raceway is the scene of some of the best action around here in existence! This Saturday, the gates open at 5PM for the Summit Bracket Racing Series, Presented by Comp Cams, with Time Trials beginning at 6 P.M. On Friday the 27thMidnight Madness with TA drifting take place, and Test N Tune Thursdays give you the opportunity to unwind and see everything about vehicles that make them powerful and great. Don't miss Street Warriors “Roll Wrestling” on the 28th of July: sponsored by Coca-Cola and Napa Auto Parts, it's one way to get the best in racing excitement while making some high-octane memories with the entire family this summer!

Speaking of exciting track contenders, The V8 SS Camaro is going to have an  enormous grille, and the sides remain fairly unchanged. The tail is where you see the most difference: as with the rest of next year's 2019 lineup, the ZL1 gets much larger taillights featuring four new illuminated rings, that help give the car a super-cool vibe. They are deeper and more detailed than those on the current model, and the bumper is now changed to match the others with a more simplified lip under the taillights, and a license plate section that has been completely redesigned. The rear wing and diffuser appear the same as the last ones, and the same 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque engine appear to be similar, coupled to a six-speed manual, or 10-speed automatic gearbox.

The extractors in the center of the hood have also been changed, and this gives the pony car an even meaner and sleeker appearance than the existing version. Directly under those larger vents in the hood, Chevy will now offer the V8 with its 10-speed automatic, and there are new performance-oriented features like line lock and the ultra-exciting launch control. Come here to Chuck Hutton Chevy and ask us during the fall how you can set your track-ready sights on the 1LE trim with the 275-horsepower and 295 lb-ft 2.0-turbocharged 4-cylinder engine: this package comes with an upgraded suspension, Track and Competition Mode settings, launch, control, and shift lights.

Once you position yourself inside, the new Camaro features Chevy's Infotainment 3 system that has better graphics and improved Bluetooth connectivity, and the 2SS and ZL1 trims feature a standard rear camera in the mirror as well. A 7.0-inch touchscreen is the standard infotainment setup for the 2019 Camaro, and an 8.0-inch screen running the latest Infotainment 3 system is an option, with or without navigation. This is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and permits a cloud connection for personalized navigation, installation of apps, and vehicle software updates sent over-the-air. The enhanced performance data recorder is the racing enthusiast's dream: come down to check out how every single thing you do during your exciting drive is evaluated with the absolute best in cutting-edge technology in the new Camaro!

2019 Silverado Lurks Around The Corner: Post-Fourth of July Chevy Blog Blowout

What a fantastic time we had in Memphis during this Fourth of July! There were exciting fireworks displays at Navy Lake, the Memphis Riverfront, the Terrace at the Madison Hotel, and many more. Now for all of us at Chuck Hutton while our attention turns to any other weekends that our customers may have scheduled off for the hot days of summer, next year's truck models are going to definitely be an item that you may have questions about. Last week Chevy made the announcement that the 2019 Silverado LT will be larger, more capable, fuel efficient, and less expensive, a true bargain in this constantly changing landscape of auto offerings.

The new model will boast more interior and cargo room, higher payload and towing  capacity, as well as a brand-new 2.7-liter turbo engine, producing 22 percent more torque than the 4.3-liter V6 it replaces, an 8-speed automatic transmission, active aero shutter, and stop-start technology. Don't forget to check out all of the various options within the High Country Trim level: the hefty and powerful 5.3-Liter V8 with revamped Dynamic Fuel Management, push-button start, stop-start technology, Lane Change Alert, Side-Blind Zone Alert, well-honed and piped dual exhaust outlets, and Advanced Trailering System.

The Z71 Off-Road Package is now available on every single model, and comes standard when you select the true adventurer's choice: the desert-and-dune-hungry Trail Boss model. You'll have the ability to thoroughly explore the most desolate and demanding of locations with a factory-installed 2-inch lift suspension, Rancho Monotube shocks, and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires. Included Electric Hill Descent control is very useful for the most demanding and dangerous of terrain that will require slow going, as well as skid plates for engine oil pan, and transfer-case protection. Even during the dustiest of muddiest of treks, the heavy duty air filter can help with keeping the truck in tip-top condition.

Next year's Silverado is larger than the outgoing model in just about every single
measurement. The crew cab, short box has 1.2 inches more total width, 1.5-inches more total height, 1.7 inches more total length, and 3.9 inches more wheelbase. This adds up to the creation of the largest cargo volume of any full-size truck in short-bed, standard-bed, and long-bed models. Coming in at 62.9 cubic feet, the Silverado short bed offers more cargo volume total than one of our fiercest competitors: the all-out power-laden and competent Ford F-150.

Despite its much larger footprint via the new model, the Silverado is up to 450 pounds lighter than the current model, due to mixed material use, and very advanced manufacturing techniques. For 2019, the 6.2-Liter V8 is now exclusively offered with 4-wheel drive, and the Max Towing Package delivers a walloping 12,200 pounds of towing strength. This is up 500 pounds from last year's able and trusty model, and we can guarantee that the latest release will continue to coax buyers into immediate ownership, with class-superior strength, features, and cargo capacity!

2019 Chevy Silverado Pricing Update: Less Expensive LT Trim Soon to be on Sale

Trusty and tough trucks like the Chevy Silverado fit right into a hard-working and time-proven city such as Memphis, and now that summer is here, our customers are beginning to ask what changes will come about during the fall for future models. There are all different types of trim levels to choose from when it comes to the Silverado. We had a few close-up blogs covering the ways in which it has been thoroughly restyled and revamped for the ultimate in efficiency, but now it's going to be cheaper too. Everyone who is looking at getting into a new truck works very hard for their money, and it is a well-known fact that having money left over after any major purchase is a relief.

Depending on which trim level you select, the Silverado comes available with six different options for powertrain, beginning with a 4.3-liter V6, all the way up to a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, with a 10-speed automatic. The Work Truck trim is now the entry-level version, and along with the Custom and Custom Trail Boss levels, they come standard with the 4.3-liter V6. The 5.3-liter V8 is available on all three trims as well, and the LT as well as RST are equipped with the new 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, producing 310 horsepower, and 348 lb – ft of torque, with the option of a V8 also on deck.

It is definitely true that “you get what you pay for”, and when it comes to pricing for  trucks, many understand that the engineering, design, research, and development all are elements that will up the price. A truck such as the Silverado is not the type of vehicle that anyone sensible would think is a member of a “bargain basement” category, but from all of us here at Chuck Hutton Chevy, we know that every dollar counts, and that wages out there have not necessarily gone up in conjunction with the cost of living. We also believe that the pride of being an American comes from deep layers of tradition, and trucks such as the Silverado bring to mind just how deeply-layered the toil of many was to build this great nation. As the 4th of July season is upon us, the announcement of this less expensive Work Truck trim is a salute to everyone out there that has coffee brewing before the sun is even up!

Car And Driver praised next year's Silverado heavily for “butch new styling, fresh engine tech, and its diesel option”. The new wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than the current truck's, and it is 1.6 inches longer than before. Legroom is up from 40.9 inches to 43.8 inches, and there are two large storage bins in the rear seatbacks, along with convenient storage space under the rear seat bottoms. No matter which configuration you choose, every 2019 Silverado gets a larger bed, that boasts almost seven inches of extra floor width. There is a new available power-operated tailgate, controlled by your choice of a cabin-mounted button, or key fob. We are excited to see features such as lower prices for trim levels on the Silverado, and hope that you stop by soon to check out Memphis's toughest truck choice, rolling in and ready by the fall!
