The Chevrolet SS Is Going Out With A Bang (Hopefully)

As we’ve mentioned in the past, Australia’s Holden Commodore will be no longer, just like its sister car, the Chevy SS... Next year marks the end of production for the vehicles (and Holden’s performance line, HSV, as an entirety) but the brand plans to end with quite the last hurrah.

Only 250 units of HSV’s last product- the GTS-R W1- will be produced. And this will be the fastest, loudest, and most expensive car Australia has yet to see. The W1s will start off at Holden’s Elizabeth plant as standard Commodores and then shipped to HSV’s Clayton shop. Here they will be totally upgraded- LS9 engine, Supashock dampers and all. As you might be too, we're really hoping the SS will be getting the same ZR1 treatment.

The W1s will come with AP Racing steel brakes and a six-speed manual transmission… If you haven’t caught on, this car is basically a four-door Corvette ZR1. Though the power figures are unknown at this point, we think there’s pretty good chance the GTS-R W1 will produce even more than the ZR1’s 638 horsepower and 604 lb.-ft of torque.

Sounds pretty awesome, if you ask us.
