2021 Chevy Silverado HD's Detailed Suspension Hardware Add 500 Lbs. To Towing Capacity

A trucks strength is measured in many different ways such as engine size, technology offerings, and interior and exterior elements. Any new truck buyer here at Chuck Hutton of Memphis who is looking for the best rig that suits them perfectly, has a detailed and demanding checklist. Coming out on top is the truck that is comfortable while still rugged and capable enough to handle anything a tough day in their line of work brings about. The new 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is going to be hitting the scene with a bang: it now boasts brand new optional equipment, new exterior colors, and a hefty increase in maximum trailering capacity.

Just how hefty are we talkin'? The new model now has a total capacity of 36,000 pounds, seeing a 500-pound increase over the 2020 Silverado. The increase is due to the ideal combination of various suspension hardware updates and wheel packaging changes. The Silverado 3500 HD Work Truck Regular Cab models with the dual-rear-wheel axle, two-wheel-drive, Duramax turbo-diesel  6.6-L LSP V8 engine, GM 10-speed transmission, and available Max Tow package, all of these are necessary to see the ultimate boost to a 36,000-pound tow rating.

Mosaic Black Metallic and Cherry Red Tintcoat are the two new exterior colors available for 2021, and there will also be four new special edition models on tap. The HD Carharrt Edition is available exclusively on the LTZ trim, and the blacked-out Midnight Edition is up for grabs on the LT and LTZ. The Carharrt is the hard-working man or woman's dream: inspired by the incredibly durable workwear brand, it offers a classic look with body-color accents, and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with Grazen Metallic accents. The Midnight Edition remains stealth and darkly-cloaked as ever, with an intimidating blacked-out appearance, 20-inch Black painted wheels, and 4-inch black round assist steps.

If you're going to be lugging around the extra weight on the 2021 Silverado HD, then be sure to do it in style: The Z71 Sport Edition and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition models are also eagerly joining the lineup. The Z71 Sport Edition features 18-inch or 20-inch wheels, color-matched bumpers, and gloss black exterior trim with color selections being Red Hot, Summit White and Northsky Blue. The Z71 Chrome Sport Edition sees body-color bumpers with chrome exterior accents as well as 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, or 20-inch polished aluminum wheels on LTZ models.

The Silverado LTZ model boasts the primed-and-powerful 5.3-liter V8 and 8-speed transmission, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel and heated front seats. At the entry-level of the trim lineup, the Work Truck still offers plenty to get excited about: the 4.3-liter V6 with 6-speed automatic transmission, 17-inch steel wheels, tilt-only steering-column adjustment, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
