Russ O’Blenes is the director of performance variants here, and as a proud owner of many big-block models was always in love with the sounds and smells of the power source everyone was long used to. Even though some of those valuable sentiments may be disappearing, it is in exchange for cleaner, more reliable dragsters that will do their part to light up the summer strip. It’s not just that electric motors are quicker, they can also go much longer periods of time between rebuilds than standard internal combustion engines usually do. This new concept uses an 800-volt battery that allows engineers to pump in needed electrons back in much quicker.

Much more testing of the eCOPO is going to be laid down before it is fully race-ready, and we know that the racing community will have its pulse checked as time and many races go on. The eCOPO’s battery is composed of four 200-volt modules: two under the rear seats and two in the trunk. For racing, engineers have surrounded the crash structures and roll cages, and added a battery-management system that will monitor the condition constantly. What was once thought of as very strange and non-traditional is now going to become the norm: we guarantee that the fun, spirit, and all-American festivity of drag racing will still remain the same even with the addition of the purely-electric and earth-friendly power source.

Chevy “Holiday Ride” ad Tugs on Heartstrings of Car Lovers Everywhere Becomes Viral Hit!

Turning on the waterworks has always been a viable strategy for filmmakers as the holidays are a time that spark emotional responses. Tom Hooper was the esteemed director of the new “Holiday Ride” ad that so many viewers are falling in love with. Hooper is also known for his brilliance shining through “The King’s Speech” and “The Danish Girl”. There is now a four-minute version of the spot posted to YouTube that enables the viewer to check out the stunning portrayal of a very lovable 1966 Chevy Impala.

The spot begins with a widower who has done the longstanding duty of keeping his late wife’s untouched 1966 Chevy Impala stowed away safely in a barn that he frequently visits to honor her memory. Since she can tell how special it is for him, his daughter then brings the Chevy in to a local expert to help friends restore it back to full and vital life. Everyone here at Chuck Hutton of Memphis fondly remembers the 427 CID V8 that was introduced that year as the largest engine option and brand-new grille on the Impala. There were two versions of the engine: one was rated at 390 horsepower and another “special performance” options rated at 425 horsepower courtesy of its heavy-duty four-bolt main block. The base V8 was once again a 327 CID motor that produced 275 horsepower, and the boxy appearance visually went along well with the new taillights.

At the time, getting up to 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds was blisteringly fast, and the recognizable rumble was always a sure sign that one of these beautifully made numbers were unwrapping and comin’ round the corner! In between 1965 and 1970, one million Chevy Impalas were sold. Another addition that fans loved on the ’66 was the chrome beltline door strips that were made to prevent dings that can occur in a drive through of a busy parking lot. Much like other SS cars, the horsepower number could be bumped up to 500, and even further into the high-powered stratosphere!

The 2023 Camaro is likely going to be equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2-Liter V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which is the fiercely capable power source for the C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray. 

This would replace the 6.2-Liter V8 LT1 gasoline engine that is currently found under the hood of the Chevy Camaro SS and LT1 trim levels, which was rated at 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. The LT1 engine is built at GM’s Tonawanda plant, a hard-working industrial beacon creating Chevy products in Buffalo, New York.

Every Lap Run Under Caution During NASCAR Will Now Aid In Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

During October, Chevy will begin supporting the American Cancer Society with a contribution of $350 for every NASCAR lap run under caution, adding a charitable element to the three NASCAR Cup Series races scheduled to take place.

The Camaro ZL1 has long been a track-ready and fine-tuned machine, and a unique pink “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” model will serve as the pace car at the NASCAR Cup Series races at Talledega Superspeedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Martinsville Speedway this October. The crowd response during these action-packed races has always been amazingly positive, and this is the 11th year in a row that Chevy has partnered with the American Cancer Society. We know how powerful the strength in numbers is when it comes to fighting cancer, and Chevy will also make the effort to donate $5 toward the fight against breast cancer this month with every post on Twitter, Instagram, and Tik Tok that uses the hashtag #WeDriveFor.

Liftoff In Lansing: 2021 Chevy Camaro Production Now Underway

 

Before any official announcement took place, reports began circulating some 55 years ago within the automotive journalist circle that Chevy was in the works planning a competitor to the Ford Mustang. Then going under the guise of the code name “Panther”, a few hundred telegrams that went out to esteemed auto writers then puzzled them, instructing them to keep June 28^th of that year free. On that very day, there was a live press conference in Detroit's Statler-Hilton Hotel, which was also the first time in history that 14 cities were connected simultaneously via phone line.

 

Chevy GM Pete Estes than announced the new car line that we have grown to love so much here at Chuck Hutton Chevy of Memphis: the Camaro. The 6th-generation model was introduced 4 years ago and saw a thorough refresh last year. GM Authority excitedly served up the scoop this week that production of the 2021 Chevy Camaro is now underway. It will continue to take place at the GM Lansing Grand River Plant in Michigan, the only plant in the world that exists to assemble our favorite muscle car and track-ready contender.

 

Production began on August sixth, And the 2021 Camaro will see a few different changes, like the new addition of the 10-speed automatic transmission to the SS 1LE Track Performance Package, which previously was only available with the six-speed manual. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will now see wireless capability, as well as being standard equipment on all Camaro models. We know just how strongly that auto purists feel about the coming of electrification to the fleet, and we understand! At this point, it is not quite clear what will happen to the Camaro after its sixth generation, but we can guarantee that even if more amps and volts are involved as a power source, it will still be startlingly fast.

This week GM confirmed that one of the 20 electric cars it plans to roll out by 2023 will be a full-size, ready to haul and dig-in-deep full-size pickup.

The 2019 sustainability report was where the first solid clues of this future project, where it was also claimed that it will offer 400 miles of driving range on a charge. It is not exactly certain whether or not this is a model that is to be constructed as a greener choice for those who love the Silverado or it could arrive as its own stand-alone model. There are plenty of other projects like this in the works for the coming years, and it is safe to assume that they will all share a few similar components underneath.

Most of the power in this large number of the coming electric fleet is derived from the Ultium® battery technology that General Motors is currently hard at work developing. This is a pretty large jump: in 2019 the only electric car in the entire Chevy lineup was the Bolt, and the times are coming quickly where there will be a lot more options. Earlier in the year, GM CEO Mary Barra claimed excitedly that “we want to put everyone in an EV and we have what it takes to do it.” Charging time will be better with nearly every model as it has been previously, and there is a flexible global plan for distribution in the works as well.

GM now holds nearly 3,000 patents related to vehicle electrification, and the advances in actual chemistry for new batteries and motor configurations are there to enable us to make a larger variety when it comes to the vehicle of the future. Decarbonizing an entire brand's fleet is what will show ultimate leadership in the future, due to the current state of the environment and rapid pace at which experts tell us we need to change our ways.

The Ultium® batteries now under development will boast 60% more capacity for power than the current batteries used in the Bolt. There are also large-format, pouch-style cells that can be stacked vertically or horizontally inside the battery pack which allows them to fit in multiple design types and various other power sources. These batteries are American made at a plant near Lordstown, Ohio that is currently under construction and will take up the size of roughly 30 football fields!

2021 Camaro Preview and Trim Level Update Via Motor Authority

As the days of spring are eminent and you can hear the various types of engine roar here in Memphis during March, the coming of the new Camaro is going to be a topic of grave excitement! The biggest news from the staff on duty at Motor Authority this month was about the availability of the 10-speed automatic on 2021 Camaro SS models with the 1LE Track Performance Package. Before this, the package only came with the 6-speed manual when properly equipped on the SS.

For the exterior, there is the option of a new Wild Cherry Tincoat color for the convertible top. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now are included with wireless capability, and you'll be able to enjoy wireless charging on 2SS and 3LT trim levels. The engine lineup remains delightfully the same, beginning with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 rated at 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, followed up by a 3.6-liter V6 cranking out 355 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque.

When you step up to the V8 department, the first option is a 6.2-liter number with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, and the range-topper is the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, yielding 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, reserved under careful wraps for the Camaro ZL1. There is nothing as thrilling as seeing and hearing one of the most classic muscle cars ever doing its thing in the wild, free to roar, roam, and race unhinged. The LT1 model is priced beneath sworn competitors in the form of the V8-powered Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang, and is also priced under the 2019 Camaro 1SS.

While certain features require buyers to bump up to 1SS and 2SS models, the point of the 1SS was to provide an option that was affordable to those out there who very understandably want the benefits of a Camaro with a V8 engine. The engine on the 1LT I4 is the Turbocharged 2.0 -L Inline 4, and the 1LT V6 features the Atmospheric 3.6-Liter V6 LGX. This LT1 is powered by the atmospheric 6.2-Liter V8 LT1, and the upgrade to the 1SS offers the same V8.

Horsepower resides at 275 for the 1LT inline 4, 335 for the 1LT V6, and 455 respectively for both the LT1 and 1SS. Torque specs when the dust clears are 295 for the 1LT inline 4, 284 for the 1LT V6, and 455 lb-ft for the LT1 and 1SS. To snag up Magnetic Ride Control you need the 1SS, and the LT1 and 1SS are also the two models that step up to Brembo 4-piston brakes: they are front only on the LT1, and both front and rear on the 1SS. The 1SS is the only model that offers up the summer-only tire variety, and the LT1 is the only model that does not offer availability of the 1LE Track Performance Package.

The 1SS model comes with an 8-inch radio screen, and all other three stock the 7. This is actually a very sensible way to get those who are hungry for a V8 to join the party: the LT1 makes do with a single-zone automatic climate system, and FE3 suspension, and the 7-inch touchscreen radio, but bestows the V8 inside for pure unadulterated power. One could obtain this model, dump a bit of their own money into it, and thoroughly enjoy a souped-up and very personalized ride. No matter what the various opinions are on the street about the front end that has changed a bit as of late, The LT1 is, by all means, a stripped-down model that delivers on the performance factor, all without breaking the bank!

Tennessee Torque Addict's Thunder: 2019 Camaro Model Progress

It was just two years ago when the sixth-generation Camaro went on sale, much to the satisfaction of many here in Memphis and nationwide who have massive love for the vehicle. It utilized the GM Alpha Platform that was shared with the Cadillac ATS and CTS, and boated the trademark McPherson struts in the front that many grew to love. 70% of the components in this build were claimed to be unique to the car, and production returned to the US from Canada. Compared to the previous generation, it was 2.3 inches shorter, .8 inch less wide, and 1.1 inches shorter in the height department.

A ZL1 trim level with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 was available for this year's model, and features a lower grill opening that improves vital cooling function. There is also a new front splitter, and carbon hood insert to removed gusty hot air from the confines of the engine compartment. The 1LT trim now receives the 8-speed automatic transmission assisted by shift paddles as standard gear for the year, and prices were lowered a bit, to the delight of the avid Camaro enthusiast. Just recently outside of GM's Milford Proving Grounds, there have been sightings of more than one camouflaged Camaros making their testing rounds, in an attempt to assure that the models rolling out two years down the road are exceptionally awesome.

Included in the sightings have been the base 4-cylinder model all the way up the chain to the popular and roaring 650-horsepower ZL1. At this early stage in the game, it looks as if the front and rear fascia are being given a bit of a facelift, while the center section of the car will be relatively untouched. We expect lighting in the front and rear to have some modifications that do their best to pair up with the revised styling, but they may not be too entirely different from current models. Even though it's hard to be positively sure, the 2019 Camaro could very likely come with a rockin' and relentless DOHC V8 engine, and the new 10-speed automatic could make its way into many new models.

The 2017 model is already sitting pretty with 4-piston Brembo front brake calipers, a track-cooling package, suede steering, and a nicely-piped dual mode exhaust. 50th Anniversary Camaro is being released

The Chevrolet Camaro has reached another milestone, after being introduced in 1966. After six generations the Chevrolet Camaro will be celebrating its’ 50th Anniversary, with the Chevrolet Camaro 50th Anniversay Edition. The Chevrolet Camaro has always been a top seller here at Chuck Hutton Chevrolet, and we could not be more excited for the new addition to the Chevrolet Camaro’s.

This 50th Anniversary Edition is said to sport a special black and orange stripe package on top of a Nightfall Gray metallic paint. The Chevy Camaro will have special 20-inch wheels with 50th Anniversary center caps, satin chrome grille inserts, a front splitter, and “Fifty” fender badges. The interior will feature 50th Anniversary references, black leather and suede with orange stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and backlit doorsill plates. You can get the 50th Anniversary addition with a V-6-powered 2LT or a V-8-powered 2SS model. Both the V-6 and V-8 are available in coupe and convertible forms.

The price of the Chevrolet Camaro 50th Anniversary has not been released, but Chevy tweeted that the special-edition “...is just the beginning.”

Chevy to Showcase Red Line Concepts at 2015 SEMA Show

Street-smart aesthetics blend style and functionality to show personalization possibilities

Chevrolet will show off its personalization possibilities at this year’s SEMA Show on Nov. 3. Latest Chevy models such as those from Chuck Hutton Chevrolet got some special treatment as the Silverado 1500, Camaro, Colorado, Malibu and Trax were each outfitted with the conceptual Red Line package.

“The Chevrolet Red Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalization choices,” Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, said. “Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Red Line Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”

Accessories that will become available when their respective 2016 models hit Chuck Hutton’s showroom floor were also incorporated into these concepts. As the new 2016 Chevrolets near Memphis head our way, so will the accessories.

The mix of vehicle styles on these concepts present the different vehicle types that Chevy produces but also that each Chevy vehicle can have a sportier side. All the Red Line Series concepts share the Enhanced Silver Metallic exterior paint color with Charcoal roof panel and Satin Graphite and red accents.
