The Camaro's Domination Factor: Hefty Trendsetter in its own Awards Class

It's no secret that Memphis has always had a huge street scene as far as racing, and up and down Summer Avenue you can still find ultra-cool rod shops, as well as tons of drivers who appreciate the art. You can hit up spots like the Memphis International Raceway to catch the slightly more lawful version of the pastime, and see world-class events like Racing Made Safe, Journeyman Racing, and the Summit Bracket Racing Series. The Camaro has long been a staple on racetracks nationwide, and many fans and drivers alike have been amazed at just how awesome, powerful and downright sinister this vehicle is.

A combination of distinct design and raw power such as this is bound to win awards, and the Camaro has absolutely had a stellar year. J.D. Power and Associates billed it as the "Most Dependable Midsize Sporty Car, Five Years in a Row." This well-respected entity conducts surveys of customer satisfaction, product quality and buyer behavior within the auto industry. They rely heavily on the survey responses of customers who are specifically targeted, and it's no surprise that the Camaro pulled down this honor.

Car and Driver is a monthly publication geared towards auto enthusiasts worldwide: known for a slightly irreverent tone and habit of being blunt, they have habitually browbeaten SUV's, and are a forum that would make any auto brand proud to be favored in. The Camaro ranked on their "10Best" list this year, and a dazzling 3.5 second time for the 0-60 launch doesn't hurt any. When you come pay us a visit and check out just how exciting this car really is with a test drive, you'll be sitting at the helm of a racehorse that runs the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds, dominating any setting that is thrown in its midst.

Kelley Blue Book has awarded the Camaro with the 2016 Best Resale Value Badge: one that is well-earned, and one of the most useful aspects of any vehicle. If the time does come when you do want to part ways with your purchase, it will not have depreciated as much as many other models down the chain. You're going to have to try pretty hard to find a reason to sell her, but we recognize that changes do occur in life, and when they do, you won't be left too incredibly short-changed.

You are going to love the aggressive front splitter on the Camaro, and the 3-stanchion spoiler, which is there to heavily increase downforce. The Carbon-fiber composite hood air extractor is on the scene to move air from the engine, and decrease the lift on the ride. A wing-style rear spoiler and diffuser help the ZL1 model keep up with the high level of performance expected from it, and the Camaro is one vehicle that won't disappoint. Magnetic Ride Control is an amazing form of suspension that actually reads road conditions 1,000 times per second.

As you begin to take a corner, the patented suspension fluid is engaged, which stiffens the suspension and reduces the amount of body roll you encounter. It's another ingenious additive that helps you get every bit of performance out of your ride, and keep you firmly planted while taking the tightest of turns. Come pay us a visit at Chuck Hutton and pay homage to the beloved muscle car that first debuted in 1966: The entire 6th-generation product line is gonna less-than-nonchalantly knock your socks off!

Memphis Milestone in The Awards Dept: 2017 Chevy Impala Close-up

It's no secret that the Impala is a beautifully crafted car: those who come to view it love how it is a full-size looker that is tailored to help you drive flawlessly and smoothly. Car and Driver stated this year when reviewing the Impala that there is "no need to shout when your reputation precedes you," and claimed that its practicality and athleticism was far beyond that of previous generations. Many customers ask which types of awards cars have gleaned, and this helps them ultimately purchase a model that will provide them the safety and stability they need.

Kelley Blue Book is a widely popular California-based valuation and research company, and they hailed the Impala this year as the best in a category of 5-year cost-to-own. This is a prediction of the total amount of vehicle-related costs you will likely have to cover during the first 5 years of your new car purchase. Insurance and fuel, as well as its depreciation, are taken into consideration: many who want an economical choice in the long run and want to free up cash for other bills will flock to the Impala because of this award.

Kelley Blue Book also rated the new Impala as one of the 10 most comfortable cars under $30K, an overall tribute to how spacious and practical the car is, while providing an environment for long-distance travel that has one of the widest appeals in the entire industry. U.S. News and World Report rated the Impala as the "Best Large Car for the Money" this year, thereby generating a lot of attention among consumers who are really looking towards savings. This car that is a massive boost to the pocketbook's gusto will still add up to a luxurious, practical and feature-filled ride for the entire family or any young professional.

Many young and savvy professionals ARE choosing Memphis as their new home because of the various innovative companies located here, one-of-a-kind Southern culture, and homespun secrets like killer barbecue. The new Impala has enough space for five adults, so your best in show as far as friends can squeeze in with you for the ride. With available Chevrolet MyLink touch-screen display, you can send and receive texts, pay your favorite road music and more. Directions from Apple Maps are right at your fingertips as well, and Apple CarPlay is an incredibly smart way for you to listen ton Apple Music.

Safety is a priority for many buyers, and features such as Available Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are great attributes that will help you keep a true "bird's eye" view on all of the happenings around you. Chuck Hutton Awards and Accolades Closeup: Chevy Malibu Named as Top Safety Pick

As summer beats down here on the lot in Memphis, many of the customers coming to the dealership are understandably wanting to know how our inventory matches up on a national scale. They've read the consumer reports and they've heard opinions from their friends and family, but it sometimes boils down to the awards a vehicle has snagged up. Truly being at the top when it comes to the competition is the element that can push a car's luster to the ultimate A+ factor, and that's one reason why we are always quick to recommend the Malibu.

With available Front Automatic Braking, the 2017 Chevy Malibu can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision, all the way up to the 50 MPH mark. That's just one reason that this able sedan was named as an IIHS Top Safety Pick. To qualify for this honor, a car must earn good ratings over the course of five crashworthiness tests. Small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints are all taken into consideration. An advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention is also a must when it comes to IIHS guidelines.

U.S. News and World Report is a very well-trusted and respected authority when it comes to autos, and for families who are searching for their perfect match in the car realm. The Malibu was ranked the best midsize car as well as hybrid for families with U.S. News, as many across the nation recognized its prowess, ability to move quick when it needed to, and safety features that help protect you on the go. By selecting the Malibu, you are tapping into the ability for an EPA-estimated 36 MPG on the highway, and you can opt for very specific and amazing upgrades such as the Driver Confidence Package.

With aerodynamic sculpting and a keen sense of importance with recognizable style delivered to everyday driving, the agile stance of the Malibu places it in a class of its own right away. As soon as you take one look at the interior, you're going to notice a spacious section with a powerful center console, while built-in USB ports and a handy charging station keep all of your browsing devices ready for action.

The Malibu Hybrid is powered by a 1.8L hybrid engine, and has unique features such as the Driver Efficiency Gauge: this will give you immediate feedback and advice about how your actual driving habits effect fuel economy. Ultimately helping you save fuel at every turn, the engine has tried and tested fuel-saving technologies such as Variable Valve Timing, Direct Injection, and stop/start assistance. Come see how safety features such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Vision Camera, and Lane Keep Assist also back up the award-winning Chevy Malibu in a major way and consistently keep it in a pinnacle class of its own.

Go Unlimited! No More Data Overage Concerns with OnStar 4G LTE For Chevy Owners

Drivers in Memphis and across the nation are definitely data-obsessed: you can plan your next trip, look for an eligible bachelor, schedule business appointments, and find the music and entertainment options that you need online. Many instances really can be pictured much like the arcade classic "Pac-Man": consumers literally gobbled up more than 4 million gigabytes of data during 2016. We are excited to announce that any Chevy owner with an in-vehicle OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot will now have access to an unlimited data plan, at a low cost of just $20 per month. AT&T is the enabling network medium, and Chevrolet will offer the plan across its entire lineup of various makes and models.

Since passengers have begun to really appreciate how many goodies can be gleaned from the web by means of a tablet, data usage has exploded. Sending email, contractors bidding on jobs and the use of applications that provide land surveying all saw a huge uptick when paired with the ability to be completely mobile. Here at Chuck Hutton, we are incredibly excited to offer the means to stay constantly connected and not worry about going over an allocated amount of data every month. When you pack up and hit the road for a trip of any great length, the streaming of video is what's going to eat up your data, and knowing that your monthly bill won't feel the effects of a "Breaking Bad" or "New Girl" marathon will greatly impress the choosier passengers in your caravan.

Last year alone, Chevrolet customers used almost double the amount of OnStar 4G LTE data in their vehicles compared to 2015, and during the second half of 2016, Chevy owners plowed through almost as much data as they had the previous 2 year since OnStar 4G LTE was originally launched. Last year, Chevy passengers streamed the equivalent of more than 17.5 million hours of video, and enjoying endless entertainment options is going to make every single outing you plan that much better. If you are navigating through a new city, open highway, or just encountered a longer commute, you're going to want to go unlimited: the music options such as Pandora alone offer great entertainment to whittle away the miles with.

Summer Safety Tech Watch: Chevy Now Touts Technology that Acts as an Extra Set of Eyes

Just last week, we marked the official beginning of summer in the state of Tennessee, as well as right here in the Memphis metro. Barbecue will be simmering, live bands will be playing on into the night, and the children of the area have a delightful reality ahead of them: they are out of school for a few quick months. This is the time when drivers have to be more careful than ever, as any of the neighborhood kids may pick the driveway perch right behind your vehicle to get some playtime in.

The majority of backover accidents happen because the driver does not properly take in their surroundings before lurching out of the driveway, and the U.S. Department of Transportation claims that 40 percent of severe crashes occurred in residential areas. 24 percent of these crashes occurred in driveways, and undoubtedly drivers were in a hurry.

It is hard to slow it down when you may be late for work or an appointment, and leaving from home is that danger zone where children may be lurking behind you. Fortunately for the many Memphis area drivers that are looking to boost safety on their commute, Surround Vision Technology is available! For now, it's integrated into the all-new 2018 Equinox, and provides a 360-degree bird's eye-view around the vehicle.

Intended to help assure safety when coming in or out of the driveway, Surround Vision acts as multiple sets of eyes that will scan the area for you. There are four cameras working for you here simultaneously: the standard Rear Vision Camara, a forward-looking camera placed in the front grille, and two side-looking cameras under each left or right mirror.
When drivers shift into reverse and get ready to roll, the birds-eye view is displayed neatly on the center stack instrument panel. Situated right here are also images from the forward and rear looking cameras, so you can quickly scan the entire area before departing. We want to assure you that the safest way to clear the area is to WALK around the car before leaving: some toddlers are small little tykes, and may need to be spotted by the human eye!

The Surround Vision feature is available on the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV, Equinox, and Traverse. Rear Vision Cameras can be found on the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV, Camaro, City Express, Colorado, Corvette, Cruze, Equinox, Express, Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Silverado HD, Sonic, Spark, Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, Trax, and Volt. We are proud as a dealership to offer numerous ways that you can feel safe on the road, and part of the Chevy promise is to uphold a longstanding tradition of above average safety features.

Keep in mind that pets and toys left strewn about are some of the biggest lures for small children, and that if you know you have a cute puppy or bikes in the yard, kids may follow. Other activities in the driveway like sidewalk chalk and lemonade stands are abundant in the Memphis metro during the summer: stay safe and keep your eyes open during the longest and most savored days of the year!

Stronger-bodied and Safe for The Long Haul: The 2018 Equinox's Luster

On the very cool travel website known as “Thrillist.com”, we recently ran across an awesome article that offers up the fine points of road trips you can embark on from Memphis. Ranked near the top was Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park: Just 17 miles away, it has three interlocking loops that you can hike or run on, and canoe trips you can take right through the cypress swamp. This and other locations such as Village Creek State Park would be incredibly involved tasks for the new Equinox to conquer: the recent shedding of extra pounds and improved body structure will be sure to have you raving about its features and many mobile abilities.

For this 2018 redesign, the vehicle has rid itself of nearly 400 pounds, which chalks up to ten percent of its mass. This results in a much more responsive, fun, and noticeably safe driving experience. It wasn't just the weight loss that the designers deemed a big deal: the all-new body has been optimized to glean top safety ratings as well, which it no doubt will not have trouble claiming. The 1.5-L turbo engine offers a large balance of fuel efficiency, backed up by performance that won't let you down when you need it most. The 2.0-L turbo engine offers 252 horsepower, and can navigate the 0-60 mph test within around 7.2 seconds. Whether you are looking for a smooth experience accelerating, or turning corners, the 2018 Equinox is an overall very light drive, which allows for a greater feeling of precision behind the wheel.

The high and ultra-high strength steel that is placed in the body structure of the Equinox is the base for a very able “safety cage” that envelopes the passengers. Together with the Equinox's restraint systems, energy is managed in such a way during a crash that protection of all occupants is at its latest and greatest capabilities. Reducing the need to account for chassis flex in the tuning elements of the suspension system paves the way for a much stiffer body structure, and this allows engineers to focus more on the comfort of the ride itself, and handling various attributes with greater precision. The lower weight also gives the Equinox a huge edge in fuel economy, and this current model delivers EPA ratings of 32 mpg, as well as 29 mpg highway.

If you opt for the diesel version, you will clock an impressive 40 mpg on the highway, which will inspire you to jump on the notion of taking the trip you wanted to this year to visit your long-lost college roommate or any relatives you haven't seen for awhile. Once you arrive, you'll be able to fully enjoy the ample cargo space, multiple Chevrolet connectivity options, and large list of safety features. The turbo-charged engines won't hurt either: you can gleefully race away into the sunset, far from whatever ails you in the cubicle, or the frenzied pace of the classroom.

Hidden underfloor storage space and a flattened cargo floor both make the task of loading and unloading much easier, and the many technologies used to make the Equinox safer will immediately have a grave effect on your day-to-day driving habits. Safety Alert Seat, Surround Vision, Forward Collision Alert with Following distance indicator, and other great advances are all present to assure that you don't have even the least amount of worry while you are transporting those most precious to you from A to B. Providing customers with fuel-efficient vehicles that won't break the bank, Chevy has a real winner on their hands with the Equinox: come see just how awesome this vehicle named after celestial coordinates will be for you.

Tennessee Torque Addict's Thunder: 2019 Camaro Model Progress

It was just two years ago when the sixth-generation Camaro went on sale, much to the satisfaction of many here in Memphis and nationwide who have massive love for the vehicle. It utilized the GM Alpha Platform that was shared with the Cadillac ATS and CTS, and boated the trademark McPherson struts in the front that many grew to love. 70% of the components in this build were claimed to be unique to the car, and production returned to the US from Canada. Compared to the previous generation, it was 2.3 inches shorter, .8 inch less wide, and 1.1 inches shorter in the height department.

A ZL1 trim level with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 was available for this year's model, and features a lower grill opening that improves vital cooling function. There is also a new front splitter, and carbon hood insert to removed gusty hot air from the confines of the engine compartment. The 1LT trim now receives the 8-speed automatic transmission assisted by shift paddles as standard gear for the year, and prices were lowered a bit, to the delight of the avid Camaro enthusiast. Just recently outside of GM's Milford Proving Grounds, there have been sightings of more than one camouflaged Camaros making their testing rounds, in an attempt to assure that the models rolling out two years down the road are exceptionally awesome.

Included in the sightings have been the base 4-cylinder model all the way up the chain to the popular and roaring 650-horsepower ZL1. At this early stage in the game, it looks as if the front and rear fascia are being given a bit of a facelift, while the center section of the car will be relatively untouched. We expect lighting in the front and rear to have some modifications that do their best to pair up with the revised styling, but they may not be too entirely different from current models. Even though it's hard to be positively sure, the 2019 Camaro could very likely come with a rockin' and relentless DOHC V8 engine, and the new 10-speed automatic could make its way into many new models.

The 2017 model is already sitting pretty with 4-piston Brembo front brake calipers, a track-cooling package, suede steering, and a nicely-piped dual mode exhaust. Come see us at Chuck Hutton to check out how much you'll love the current model with its comfortable suede and leather upholstery, and see just how great the 1LS, 1LT, and 2LT trims run with a turbocharged Inline-4. The current ZL1 Model goes from 0 to 60 MPH in about 3.5 seconds, and we expect a pleasant boost in these running stats with the 2019 re-vamp as well. From a product line that Motor Trend Magazine called 2016 Car of the Year, we aren't going to expect anything half-assed or shoddy from the Camaro franchise. We encourage all Memphis area Camaro fans to look towards the future in anticipation to see what two years around the corner brings: screeching tires and the purest of pavement engagement will be sure to follow.
